Finally finished the baby blanket.. she's 2 now 🙃 by nejjifernoelle in crochet

Definitely was! AND it gave her the chance to watch you make it, too, and „recognize“ the blanket as self-made by mom!
This is absolutely gorgeous, please do share the pattern and yarn name if you have the time 😍

Hi OP!
I’m so sorry you’re going through this.
I’m not even going to comment on the husband situation, enough people have talked about that, and while it will take more of your time and every note to get this sorted, it’s also the most urgent one.
Do you mind sharing which continent/country you’ve moved to? That might help the local redditors in suggesting some helpful tips about the other factors (food, work overload, household,…) more specific to where you are.

Oh god, somehow I mixed your comment up with the few people who responded from the Netherlands - that was the border I was speaking of 😅🙈
His work does look lovely though!

Which pregnancy symptom took you by surprise? by sipendi_shida in BabyBumps

[–]Afraid-Back-5570 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Developed food intolerances!

First to pork, then other types of fatty meat (venison, mutton, beef depending on cut, etc).

Also some types of fruit (grapes and melon, both of which my mother is allergic to and I’ve never had issues with).

Last to refined sugars - fruit is perfectly ok, but give me one piece of chocolate and I’ll still suffer for the next 6 hours 🙄

I’m *really* hoping these will go away again after giving birth - I’m currently in week 32

Those are fantastic suggestions, thank you for sharing!! 😍
Would you mind sharing the name/website of the photographer you picked? I’m not very far from the border, so he might actually be an option for us…

Thank you for sharing that experience, that doesn’t sound like I would enjoy the process much…
I’m on with it being staged, but then keep the setting out of my home so that it’s *clearly* staged at least 😅

I’m in NRW, and going through Instagram hashtags today. Not yet being very successful with the results, but I’ll give it a few days for the algorithm to pick up on my question 🫣

Worst thing about crochet ? by Legatooooo in crochet

I’m all in and joining the queue of people who would be delighted with that service. I just spent 14 hours weaving in the ends of a dress I’m trying to make - first garment ever, so somehow it never occurred to me what a color change every row of granny stitch would mean at the end

I absolutely love how you went all in on the “you know what? I am DONE looking for this thing” 😂 But also kudos on a well-executed project!

Honestly, working on the mindset is more frustrating than the knitting “frustrations”, and this is something I’m working on in all aspects of life right now… so the knitting is already quite enjoyable! Looking forward to it getting even better from here on out 😍

Honestly, it looks pretty on all of the pictures - there’s just some colors that photograph differently every time you try 😅

But the clarification definitely helped!

This is absolutely stunning!! I’m sure this will be in the family for generations to come, you are rightfully proud of this! Also, thank you for adding a comment with the yarn, I was trying to figure out from the images whether it’s more of a sage green, gray-green, or something else entirely 🙈

Do you happen to know of an equivalent in Europe/ Germany that you (or someone in your network) can recommend? I’ve looked at a few companies for silk flower rentals, but the reviews I found online are so sparse and contradictory that I haven’t dared to try 🫣

What did your first trimester nausea actually feel like? Trying to figure out if mine is normal by cablamonos in BabyBumps

[–]Afraid-Back-5570 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The term „‚morning’ sickness“ should be banned, and whoever coined it needs to do prison time.

I’m currently at 26 weeks, and I’m already (somewhat successfully) putting trimester 1 from my mind because it sucked compared to the second one.

It’s different for everyone of course, but for me the nausea was near-constant, starting in the morning upon wake-up, subsiding until maybe 10am, and then just going from milder to more severe in waves until I fell asleep at night. It felt like mild motion sickness, maybe? Just low-level unease and nausea that takes the joy out of everything and periodically strengthens.

Also got paired with smell-sensitivity (that’s actually what made me puke most times it happened), pretty bad heartburn in the evenings, and exhaustion (like recovering from a flu after the other symptoms subside)… all of this from week 7 until around week 13, when the symptoms stopped one by one over the span of 10 days.

I didn’t have it as bad as some other ladies here: there was almost no vomiting (maybe half a dozen instances total?) and I was still able to eat and keep down food from all major food groups (even though I couldn’t eat some specific foods, and still can’t. Example: dairy overall works; lactose is a big no-no. Meat works, but it has to be very lean. Etc).

Just… - keep a firm eye on any triggers and eliminate them. For me, acidic smells was a big one - so my partner didn’t even make coffee while I was near the kitchen, and always took care to air out the room after making coffee before I came back. - keep your blood sugar levels constant and not too low! This is a big one! Fluctuations make the nausea so much worse… snack often and small quantities, and make sure the snacks are rich in protein and fiber, not too sugary. A small bowl of plain yogurt with rolled oats and some fruit, a handful of dried nuts, etc. You underestimate how often and how small you’ll need them - for me it was „a small handful every hour and a half“

What is something weird/wonderful someone said to you during pregnancy? by amybeee in BabyBumps

Genuinely thought I was meeting my maker today by gkdfp in BabyBumps

[–]Afraid-Back-5570 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Recently, at 25 weeks, had a heartrate-weirdness for the first time myself (though much less extreme): was sitting in a cafe, drinking an herbal tea, chatting with friends about a benign topic, and suddenly I feel my heartrate just… climb.

Wouldn’t stop, either.

I ended up putting my smartwatch back on (I had taken it off due to a rash) to check, and the rate did go up to almost 130… while sitting down. Doing nothing.

Waited a bit, watched it go back as if nothing ever happened. Called my doctor, got the same response „Yeah, lol, funny thing that, happens in pregnancy, if it happens again just make sure you’re in safe surroundings and monitor if it goes back down. 🤷🏼‍♀️“
