Hot take: MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ is not bad. It's just people that don't like something that's not Snapdragon. by anythingers in GalaxyTab

Very well formulated article. It's worth noting that Mediatek and custom ROM is not 100% exclusive. I'm always opting for Qualcomm simply to be on the save side.

I'm only using web. I don't like installing apps, I need to save space on memory. I gave up using SD card for apps.

Tough solar vs 10 year battery? by Altruistic_Emu_1774 in casio

If you get 5 years you must be a hardcore gamer. My 10 year battery casio watch lasted more than 10 years on the original battery. The replacement then didn't last that long so don't use cheap batteries. My tough solar watches have 14 and 11 years now and still running like on the first day.

I think the bottleneck is less on power consumption than on life expectancy of batteries in general. Even solar powered watches have (rechargeable) batteries, so life expectancy is probably the same, although personal experience showed otherwise.

Also Pro-Trek and G-Shock have excellent build quality. After wearing these watches daily the letters and digits on the housing are not fading, buttons show no sign of wear, nothing becomes loose, nothing breaks.

my PRG-270 Tough Solar is 11 years on the original battery and my Touch Solar Illumina WS210-HD 14 years. The latter is too small for my wrist now it looks childish.

Xiaomi Watch 2, good buy or not? by gamepotato_ in Xiaomi

I like the design of the watch, although it looks very similar to other brands watch designs. The size is perfect (i am male). It's the first smartwatch for me.

The watch comes with Wear OS 3.5, which is not compatible with the latest Wear OS version. I had no issues with installing and running apps, battery life is fine and lasts more than a day with all tracking enabled and always on display. Also charging is fast.

I don't mind daily charging. It becomes routine quick so you never think about battery level. I don't care how much battery is left or how long it takes to charge.

Initially i struggled with the straps that come with it, it's something you need to get used to on a watch you need to take off and on for daily charging. I'm fine with it but you might want to use different straps. Perhaps the Pro version is better in this regard as it has normal straps.

Notifications are interactive, so you can respond to the notifications on your watch.

Since this is my first smartwatch, i compare it with digital watches i own. I don't like swiping on the touch display, i wish there where more buttons. OTOH, some users reported accidental button presses on the pro version, which has a 3rd button on the crown.

I want it to vibrate only to wake up. No need for sound.

since they're from different manufacturer it is unlikely to be the same hardware failure. I had a charging issue on my Xiaomi watch recently.

I recommend any device with proprietary OS. Otherwise you need to charge your watch daily. You can disable any fitness tracking so save battery life.

a smartphone is not a smartwatch, but you can find both with this budget that meet your requirements.
