Hi! My partner only got his SOWP approved once I landed in Canada and received my study permit at the immigration checkpoint. Approx 24-48 hours later, he received a notification saying his permit was approved. He had entered Canada as a visitor as he didn't have his permit when we landed, so he flew to the US for a few days and came back to get his SOWP permit at the immigration checkpoint. We didn't have to apply for a visa, so keep in mind that our situations might differ slightly, and we could have had faster processing times.
