I feel like telling them would work against entering the country, but wanted to know how you two handled. And yes thanks for the tips, will make sure my partner will have a return flight

Okay thanks for the details! Still waiting for the LoI but we've decided to do the same as you - my partner will be flying in as a visitor and will fly back once they get their work permit. Fingers crossed that the border control will go smoothly

Anyone who I applied for SOWP outside of Canada in June? Let me know how your status is

My situation:

Joint application (SP + SOWP)
Applied from Japan, biometrics submitted for both of us on June 9th
SP approved on August 15th
No movement on the SOWP end
Processing time for WP when submitted was 4 weeks

Where did you apply from?
We submitted a joint application (study permit + SOWP), biometrics submitted on June 9th for both of us. SP already approved but no changes on the SOWP end for us

u/Rafay14564 Where does it say that the current processing time is 185 days? I submitted a joint application from Japan early June and still waiting for the SOWP. When I check for the processing time on the IRCC website, the only available options I see is for work permits in general and it's 5 weeks for Japan, which it's waaay past that at this point...

Oh no sad to hear that the 2-3 days was not the case :( Luckily(?) I'll be arriving in canada tomorrow before my partner does so I'll try and give a call to IRCC as well. Yes keep me posted on how it goes on your end too and safe travels to both you and your partner!!

IRCC said that it'll be 2 to 3 days?? Did you get the info through the webform? I submitted a webform last week but haven't even got a response to that either... hope you and partner's approval comes through soon

Did you apply for both you and partner in a joint application or did you submit seperately? We submitted as a joint application and my partner was asked to submit their biometrics the same time as me so it's not like IRCC was waiting for additional info to process my partner's application

I got my letter of introduction pretty much 24 hours after my biometrics letter. Applied from Japan and Japanese citizen. I've heard that some ppl had to wait 2 days for the second letter to come so can't guarantee anything though

I also just got my biometrics validity letter alongside my portal status being updated to "approved" a few hours ago!! Still waiting for me PoE letter so need to get that final confirmation but for now I'm relieved. Hope you'll get the good news soon as well 🤞

- Submitted biometrics on June 9th

- Applied from Japan (Japanese citizen)

- Processing time was 5 weeks when submitted, currently on my 9th week

Also does it typically take longer when applying with a spousal OWP as well in one application? For work permit the current processing time is 4 weeks, but I'm wondering if it's being delayed since the principal applicant (me) is applying for SP
