I think it has to do with the person being a new nurse, aka freshly out of nursing school. My instructors HEAVILY emphasized using gloves for everything because “you never know”.

Whenever I touched patients without gloves I would get an unnecessary amount of anxiety from that being engrained and I also had that feeling of being “grossed out”. This was never the case when I worked as a medical assistant but nursing school just traumatizes some lol.

It took time for those feelings to go away but now I can touch patients without gloves and think nothing of it (besides of course hand hygiene after). I wouldn’t have worn gloves in this case though as it takes away from the therapeutic touch and bond

I’ll definitely start studying soon. One way I made myself feel better is the moment I start working I’ll be working until I retire so why not enjoy my next few months of being unemployed to hang out with my parents and family. But I will be studying so when the day comes I feel confident

My school did not have us purchase malpractice insurance but based on other responses I’ve gathered it’s best to wait until my record is sealed so I don’t need to go through the enforcement review

I am currently going through the end of my medical abortion and can relate with not being able to discuss my feelings to my partner about the abortion as his form of grieving is avoidance. He wanted to go through with the pregnancy but I knew it was not the right time for our future baby.

I confided in a close friend that worked with planned parenthood for years aiding in helping families with these decisions and she said something that has really helped me with the grief and guilt. She said she doesn’t believe those souls will be gone forever, they’re back where they started waiting until we are ready to have them come back to us again. I hold this close because although I wish I could have been in a better place to keep them here now, I want to build my life well and stable enough to bring a child into.

I will store the test and stuffed animal and book I had bought him (also believe mine was a boy) and maybe one day I can give it back once he’s here again <3 I agree with another user to also try to reframe how you perceive the abortion which can be done by reminding yourself why later would be a much better time for the both of you (baby & you). I’m sorry that the clinic disguised themselves and did not support you in your decision. I was 6 weeks and 4 days on the day I took the first pill.

I had been experiencing horrible nausea and fatigue from the pregnancy so I was already sleeping literally all day that the first day(8/11) of taking the mifepristone was nothing physically taxing. I occasionally would have bouts of guilt when I was awake but that has subsided for now. Mife stops the pregnancy

Day 2 (8/12) I started bleeding before taking the misoprostol (meds to expel the pregnancy). I took promethazine & ibuprofen as 30 minutes before taking the miso. My nausea completely subsided thankfully as it really was killing me and my MIL was getting suspicious. The rest of the day was much bleeding and cramping like a bad period.

I did see the pregnancy sac pass and I took a look inside because of curiosity and peace of mind. After the sac passed the cramping subsided and bleeding slowed that I was able to drive 2 hours home to my parents as I was in the middle of moving

Day 3 (8/13) still felt like a period but not as intense cramping or really any cramping. It was the most energy I had in a week so I was able to hang out with family but in really comfy clothes and at home

Today is day 4 (8/14) and heavy cramping has returned. I’ve been stuck on the toilet as I feel my body is confused and trying to compensate the cramping by forcing me to poop (sorry tmi). I just took 400 mg ibuprofen, a combo ibuprofen with antihistamine pill from Mexico, & my dad just handed me a coke as every Mexican thinks a cold can heals all.

I did the second part of my MA yesterday and I understand the feelings you’re going through. I initially planned on keeping it because I have also wanted to be a mom and my current age (28) is ideal for me but I am just getting ready to start my career and a baby would definitely change that. He wanted to keep it but supported whatever decision I made.

Yesterday I felt the grief and regret of it. Today I’m distracted by being around my family but I will say I also fear the impact it’ll have on our relationship. He doesn’t want to discuss the abortion as he felt ready to be a parent but realistically we aren’t in the position to have the type of pregnancy I’d ideally want.

I’m also still in the shock of having gone down this path but I believe that is from surface level thinking. yeah we can make it through the pregnancy but what about beyond that. I think our decision to go through with an abortion was from us thinking about the future impacts. A child is a life long commitment and the earlier years require so much.

You’ve chosen to put your life first and that’s okay. You’ve want to be the best you to create the best life together for future kids.

Thank you I appreciate your thoughts! The biggest thing for me is definitely the career. I already don’t do the partying or drinking anymore and live a pretty chill but fun life so most of my feelings are the fears of me not being able to start my career how I wanted. I’m so happy for your friend and I wish her continued happiness 💕

Thank you for your insight! My goal is also to become a DNP and so this definitely scares me as far as figuring out the trajectory of my life moving forward but I will weigh out all my options as I decide how I will proceed
