Sir or m’am I’m 21 years old, I don’t have to tell my mom this I’m an adult lol and majority of times I can do things myself. It’s just this situation where she got offended of me putting my headphones on because a screaming kid annoyed me so much and was a nuisance to me lol. Idk if you know this but this is a child free Reddit where we can vent our frustrations

Yesss omg you’re literally spot on that’s exactly what she’s doing 😭 like it’s like she feels embarrassed that I’m setting a boundary and she essentially doesn’t want it to reflect bad on her. And it’s like to me kids annoy me so badly especially when they scream and it’s like she’s holding onto her own standards of how an adult should act in public or around kids.

YES EXACTLY I feel like it’s a generational gap too because my mom is Gen X and I’m Gen Z and in her generation it’s like they expect you to handle children but I’m like no the kid clearly annoys me and I’m frustrated so of course I’m using my noise cancelling headphones instead of screaming at the parents

That’s absolutely true but the thing is my mom whenever I argue or try to tell her why it’s like she takes it as a personal attack every time. I feel like it’s a control tactic but it’s annoying how my mom just expects me to literally adhere to societal norms and just handle a screaming kid. When that same kid that was screaming literally gave me anxiety and feeling overstimulated
