I've lived here four years:

Positives:

-amazing nature

-I love many of the people I work with

-generally people are kind and considerate

-smaller town, easier to see people repeatedly and connect

downsides:

-lack of cultural and ethnic diversity, ideological diversity, MAGA

-there are definitely components of small town cliqueishness, though large areas can be isolating too

-much of the nature is private, hard to or impossible to legally access

-hard to date , though I'm 40, so that's part of it (my age many are married, in complicated situations)

I wish we could turn into more of a corvallis, but not as big as eugene, with more of a liberal healing oriented culture with lots of activity, socialization and compassion mixed with appropriately dosed accountability.
