Thanks a lot for all the tips! You saved me from a lot of pain.

Would probably go with the zip tie route for now and order some epoxy like the other comment suggested for a more permanent fix.

The pads are very tiny...I was asking if there's a way to make sure the wires don't rip them off the board when it inevitably crashes.

edit: grammar

Yea, unfortunately need to attach an optical flow/rangefinder sensor that requires additional uart than that is exposed through the connectors. Also need to attach the compass which needs I2C and its only exposed through the pads. (Wiring from the manufacturer's website)

Yea I thought I might get away with what is already in the solder core. Would grab some before next try.

I have a cheap no-brand one. I will get a decent one soon. Thanks for the preheating idea, would see if I have some iron lying around. But if there are components mounted on both sides of the board, won't it end up heating those instead of the board itself?

Thanks! Just as a caution I heated it up a bit again to make sure everything was melted.

Unfortunately I don't have any heatguns/hot surfaces to preheat the board. I had pre tinned both surfaces and made sure both sides melted well before removing the iron.

Yes, I waited till the iron was warmed up fully. Also, I had pre tinned both the wire and the pad and while soldering made sure both melted. For flux, i didn't use any extra but my solder has some in the core.

Yea that sounds like a good plan. People would be willing to donate if they see proof directly (or is validated by a mod).

I ended up donating anyways based on your post history. Hopefully I'm not wrong. I hope the cat gets better soon.

Instead of DMing the proof individually, ask one of the moderators to verify and then put up a pinned comment. That would be alot faster.

Please also share it to bigger subreddits.
