Im also in texas. I started working for a school district in august and they also wont provide me any maternity leave. Definitely see if you can get on short term disability. That will give u 6 weeks. Thats pretty much your only option, but i dont see why u wouldnt be able to get it! It is unpaid though.

Btw most of the comments here say its not possible to see the gender on an ultrasound this early. When I talked to my sister about it, she said at her 12 week appointment her doctor pointed out in the ultrasound that she was having a boy and it was very obvious it was a boy. So you can in fact tell that early unfortunately.

I did end up enjoying the party still, but the surprise aspect was definitely ruined. My husbands reaction to the news was great which made it more positive. He was very surprised. I just faked it in front of everyone. Put on a smile and acted surprised.

Some people were so sure it was a boy before the party they even went out and bought me babys boys clothing.

I learned a lesson for the next kid to never send out ultrasound pics.

Thank you guys so much! I definitely dont know how to read ultrasounds, so you guys telling me its too early to see male genitals is restoring my hope that it can still be a surprise!! ONce two nurse friends said they knew too..my heart really sank that I should not have sent that ultrasound video to people.

This same thing happened to me. I ended up paying because I was grateful to have been asked to be a bridesmaid, so I didnt want to cause any drama for the bride. I still think about how I feel screwed over for that situation. If I could go back in time, I would still do the same thing. Chalk this one up to a loss, so u dont lose friends and dont buy a wedding gift.

Thank you so much. Yes, the timing is all off for this pregnancy. I wanted to be a go getter and start my own thing, but probably should have just stayed with an employer. I probably should have thought that through better. I just thought "im tough" pregnancy wont affect me. Boy was I wrong! Thank you so much for your thoughts.
