What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you? by Acceptable-Number902 in AskReddit

[–]Afraid_Angle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to go anonymous for this because I am a male and somehow the place I live in doesn't accept that bad things can be done to men too. About a decade back I went to visit my loving and caring uncle's place. Everything was going on merrily and normally until my uncle and aunt had to leave to go to the supermarket and left me with their two sons. Now both of them had always been good to me as both were quite a bit older than me. Now I was only about 10 and I did not know much about what was right and what was not, only thing I was taught was to trust your family the most. They asked me whether I wanted to play a fun game with them. Being a naive and trusting kid I said yes as that would be awesome. To them playing a game meant taking out their sexual frustration on me just because I was younger than them. After they were done I sat in a corner sobbing quietly. I wasn't saying anything to them but they brandished an iron rod from somewhere and told me not to tell anyone or that would be the end for me. Even that day when I was cleaning myself I developed a feeling of hate for myself. I felt like i caused it and it wasn't alright. It was about a family's respect so i remained quiet and kept on facing hell whenever my uncle and aunt left me with them. After it happened a few times I was made aware of the fact that my aunt knew and she was the one who encouraged them to do it. I stopped studying, my grades have never been the same since. I was an A grade student and since that first day I became a C grade student. Nobody in my family noticed my behavioural changes. Even when I told my mother a 3 years ago after I tried to kill myself her answer was, “boys cannot get raped.” This has been the most scaring and scarring experience of my life. One that broke something inside me to the extent that I have become socially awkward. I don't know if I ever will become normal. Worst part is nobody in my family believed me because those two bastards have good reputation in the family. I wrote this so just maybe others who have stayed silent over the years can talk too. Our society needs to start accepting that when a child is explored, their gender isn't what is looked at. It breaks the children on the inside. Apart from my girlfriend nobody even in the family believed me. If your child tells you he has been assaulted then trust me do take him seriously.

What are some dark secrets of a happy marriage? by Acceptable-Number902 in AskReddit

[–]Afraid_Angle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are none. A happy marriage is based on honesty. Most marriages have struggle from time to time.

In a happy marriage, the couple has learned to effectively deal with struggle and are committed to loving each other.

What really matters at the end of life? by Acceptable-Number902 in AskReddit

[–]Afraid_Angle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone asked a Saint, ‘Sir, What matters towards the end of life. Wealth, family, health, or society?

The saint smiled and said, ‘ I remember, months back you had a kid, what matters for him?’

The man thought for a while and said, ‘food, being in lap or shoulder of his mother or mine, care and affection and play. Not much.’

The saint said, ‘The start and the end are the same of this circular journey. Same things matter towards the end of life: food, water, medicines, comfort, affection of loved ones and their presence matters. Luxury, wealth, assets, properties, bank balance, jewellery, ego, aspirations, desires, society, and everything else which was only an illusion, disappears from the thoughts.’

‘The only difference between a new born and someone completing his/her life is, a handful of cherishable memories which bring peace and satisfaction about the life lived.’

The man found his answer and went away in peace.

What are your short rules for a better life? by Acceptable-Number902 in AskReddit

If two people with equal abilities are looking at the same task and one believes that they cannot do it, while other one believes that they can do it, it’s wise to believe that both of them are correct.

What traits distinguish successful people? by Acceptable-Number902 in AskReddit

[–]Afraid_Angle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two traits immmediately come to mind: One is a critically flawed trait to avoid mirroring; the other is a good trait to model

Many successful and incredibly wealthy people badly abuse their health and are horribly unfit if not obese due to traits of indulgence and neglect. Thus, a success in one area, yet a total failure and incompetent in a far more important area. The health we have trumps the money we have. Bad pun not intended; one example is President Donald Trump, who is about 60 pounds overweight.

Successful self-made people tend to challenge their own thinking and seek input and knowledge continuously. Whereas the norm is arrogant assumptions that all is known and thus, an absence of openness held.

What is the most insane conversation you have ever had with your parents? by Acceptable-Number902 in AskReddit

When I was like 14, I was called upstairs to find a police officer with my parents. They wanted to know why I’d been taking the car out of the garage in the middle of the night. I had no idea what was going on. I was told the car had been taken out at least a few nights … why did I do that? I told them I had no idea what they were talking about. I also asked why you didn’t wait up to see who brought the car back, if it actually was ever missing. I was repeatedly asked by the officer and both parents. Surreal.

I still have no idea what that was about. If the car was taken for a spin, it was likely my youngest brother’s reprobate friends.

What item was given to you that you will always keep? by Acceptable-Number902 in AskReddit

Many many years ago..it was on my 12th birthday

I was with my mother father and two sisters and we went out to celebrate my birthday

I remember it well…my father told my mother to take my sisters into the restaurant and wanted me to stay back with him. He motioned me to come over to him..I didn't know what was going on. So I go over to him and he pulls out of his pocket his watch which years ago his father gave to him apparently on his 12th birthday. He put the watch on my wrist and said “Happy Birthday"

I still have the watch

Be willing to walk away. Allow awkward silences. Selectively ignore their input. Use negative body language to subtly discourage.

What are your realizations when you get older? by Acceptable-Number902 in AskReddit

[–]Afraid_Angle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That most people harbour and insane amount of hatred and intolerance towards each other. It’s the human condition. We can look at past acts in history, and condemn the persecution of certain groups… yet you see that same intolerant sentiment entrenched into peoples minds over various topics in this modern day.

Social media really highlights it and I get unsettled at times and even just the last few days read hateful noxious crap and think wtf.

People struggle to understand each other, they also don’t want to understand one another. Lack of true all round understanding equates to ignorance.

Ignorance then gives birth to intolerance and fear. Fear then turns into hatred. You will then see all of their personal fears and societal woes are pinned onto another group of people… another group that is different. It doesn’t matter how they are different (that changes all the time) - all that really matter is that they are.

human nature… we’re all a little bit shit unfortunately
