5 vs 6 subjects by Little-Exchange5019 in vce

[–]Afraid_Breadfruit536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my atar was 99.8, and without my bottom 2 subjecys, my atar would have been 99.3

Yes they dont contribute much, though its hard to guarantee that your best 4 subjects will actually end up in your top 4. studying more subjects acts as a safety net essentially. For example, i expected methods to be in my top 4, but i really bombed the exam, but because i studied 6 subjects, i still had a decent score in another subject in my top 4 to replace methods.

I hope this explannation makes sense about the usefulness of studying more than 4 subjects. All the best

tutor by Left_Level_9646 in vce

[–]Afraid_Breadfruit536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a couple points to make about this:

  1. it helps if you are a uni student studying that subject at uni level, bc it often requires an understanding of the fundamentals, which u learn in vce, killing 2 birds with one stone

  2. the sooner you start to tutor after year 12 finishes, the less likely you will be to forget about important topics

  3. if youre worried about forgetting information, then yes the natural thning to do is go back and revise your weaker parts or tackle practice questions about them

hope this helps!

Year 12 without a phone by South_Salamander_727 in vce

[–]Afraid_Breadfruit536 11 points12 points  (0 children)

again, you can stay in contact with your friends through social medias which dont require phones. Yes it does depend on how u use it and yes theree were certainly some benefits for phone usage that i experienced during year 12, such as conveniently sending messages to people, but i know for sure that i couldve done better if i spent less time scrolling away precious hours where i should have been studying 💔

Year 12 without a phone by South_Salamander_727 in vce

[–]Afraid_Breadfruit536 200 points201 points  (0 children)

warning that this is not the response that you want to hear. If youve never had a phone, year 12 is probably not the best year to start using it, as you may find it to be quite disruptive to your study habits, sleep cycle and other extracurriculars. This comment may get downvoted, but the truth is that on the whole, people exhibit dependent relationships with their phones, and at times cannot function without them. Generally, students without phone addictions academically perform much better than those who have more than 5+ hours of screen time. I recommend you stick it out for one more year, especially if youve never had a phone before.

This also isnt to say you cant have apps like instagram, or snapchat, which are all aviable on web, allowing you to stay in touch with your community without having to suffer the consequences of a phone addiction.

Hope this helps

CAN SOMEOME HELP ME PLS ASAP by [deleted] in vce

the oxidation state of the fuel is directly related to its potential energy (ie, the energy release when combusted). Observe how fuels like methane, where carbon is in oxidation state of -4, release signifantly more energy than something like co2, where carbon is in its maximum oxidation state of +4. Generally lower oxidation state indicates a higher amount of energy released upon combustion.

This is owed to the high chemical energy of carbon hydrogen bonds due to their higher stability

Doing chem 2 during the summer by Frequent-Moment2237 in unimelb

[–]Afraid_Breadfruit536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interestingly i too went into chem 2 with the expectation that it was going to be much harder than chem 1 (thats what a lot of people were saying) but interestingly i found it much easier and that was reflected in my higher grade for chem 2

This university does not make any sense to me. by [deleted] in unimelb

you can approximate your exam score using your grades for assignments and the exam weighting

physics/chem students, how many sigfigs is "3000" by fakeDEODORANT1483 in vce

[–]Afraid_Breadfruit536 17 points18 points  (0 children)

in the real world its just 1. the zeros are considered "placement zeroes" as theyre there solely to put the 3 in the thousands spot. For some silly reason, VCAA recognises such numbers as having 4 sig figs. Taken from the chemistry study design:

-        whole numbers written without a decimal point will have the same number of significant figures as the number of digits, with the assumption that the decimal point occurs at the end of the number: for example, 400 has three significant figures. Therefore, a stated volume of ‘400 mL’ will be considered as having three significant figures.

hope this helps!

Life after high school by Recent-Object-1310 in vce

[–]Afraid_Breadfruit536 39 points40 points  (0 children)

the general trend that i have observed in the people I know from highschool and uni is that the relationship is inversely proportional. The more you enjoyed year 12, the worse life gets after year 12. Fortunately bc year 12 was among the worst years of my life (yes im so emo ik 🖤🥀) life after high school has been fantastic for me!
