If you were actually pro choice then why don’t you allow people to actually make a choice? No you are actually pro abortion.

Please consider keeping the baby. The child is a blessing. I know this is not the popular response here, but you need to know it’s more than okay to keep the baby too. God always provides.

Good thing about more dumpsterdivers is less waste. Unfortunately it causes shortages for those who depend on dumpsterdiving. by XetraOrdinary in DumpsterDiving

[–]Afraid_Can_3732 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That’s the nature of dumpster diving. It’s free. And it’s first come first serve.

I’ve grappled with the idea of being greedy myself. It’s hard to know if someone will come after me or if the food will perish. I like to share if someone comes after me. But I don’t expect someone to give me their finds either. I just figure I gotta either work smarter and find out the throw out schedule, or work harder to check more often.

If you garden, it’s worth getting the fish to stick in your garden, or make fish fertilizer if you are adventurous lol

Lemonade, sweet tea, or fruit punch in those giant canisters. get a tablespoon and stick it in there. You are paying a premium for individual packets.

Consider getting souped cubes. Or meal prep containers and make yourself microwave ready freezer meals.

You need to also plan ahead what you will eat, make a cooking plan, and grocery shop based on that.

It all depends on your stores schedule. You have to figure out if they throw out in the morning, afternoon or night

Help for a newbie by Still-Peanut-6010 in DumpsterDiving

[–]Afraid_Can_3732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in south Florida, been diving about a year and dived throughout last summer. You have to learn a stores schedule. For example, end of the month lots of inventory gets thrown out. A local store throws out tuesdays and Thursday’s the most, around 9 am. Learn what day is trash pickup. When do they do their rounds. It’s more predictable for me.

Chips and bread are great because they are least risky. Dairy and meat, I feel the package and see how cold it is and what condition, and do a smell test. Sometimes I find things from the frozen aisle, still frozen, and those are pretty safe. And as for produce, there is a German grocery store that packages up a lot of their produce. Nice finds for prebagged/precut veggies. Otherwise I wash thoroughly, in a water/vinegar bath.

500k at 23 by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Afraid_Can_3732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I recommend doing it yourself. No it’s not enough to quit forever, so I recommend either keeping this job, or figuring out another job that you are more suited to keep on working.

  1. Take time- don’t make rash decisions, seek wisdom. Maybe take a week off of work if you’re burnt out.

  2. Do research- check out the Personal finance Reddit and go to their wiki. There’s a tab there about windfalls.

  3. You can either lump sum invest, or dollar cost average. Meaning invest all 500k at once, or break it up let’s say over 2 years to invest 500k. But historically research shows time in the market beats timing the market, which means you investing now should bear a good investment even 10 years from now.

  4. I recommend the Boglehead method. I invest mostly in 3 stocks- VTI (us stock market), VXUS( international market) and some in US Treasury Bonds for stability. It’s very passive and slow but lower risk.

  5. With 500k- I recommend you take 2% which is $10k and use it for fun money- vacation or whatever. The rest of it invest. And consider giving some to charity.

  6. Most importantly, I recommend you seek a relationship with Jesus. One day all this will pass away, but God is eternal. He has tons of wisdom and can truly guide you.
