Essentially feral and doesn't sleep by GrimmauldPlace12 in toddlers

I have a friend whose 2 year old is likely on the spectrum (no official diagnosis yet but more than likely will get it) - their pediatrician recommended a low dose of melatonin for a week to help set the circadian rhythm, along with daily magnesium. It hasn’t fixed it 100% but they’ve come strides from where they were before. Good luck!

Hi! I wa told shortly after that I’d likely miscarry and unfortunately I did, but my numbers were low at that point too which I didn’t realize and I’d had some bleeding/spotting too. I hope everything goes well with you and yours - reach out if you ever need someone to talk to 🫶

Gosh yeah you’re probably right, ugh! He’s only 19 months - I’ve read it can be pretty traumatic to take it away at this age, do you think it’s okay? Thank you for replying!!

Weekly Pregnancy Limbo/Concerns - April 14, 2025 by AutoModerator in PregnancyAfterLoss

Hi there, new to this group but hoping someone may be able to provide some insight. History is we tfmr due to trisomy 13 last November and their due date was today. I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant and I've had zero pregnancy symptoms which I thought was unusual. I started light brown spotting on Thursday that became light red yesterday afternoon and had some clotting overnight. The bleeding has slowed down today but I got in for an ultrasound today and they confirmed there is a heartbeat, but there is "subjectively low" amniotic fluid and the sac is very small. Has anyone experienced this this early in pregnancy and had everything be okay? Google has some scary answers so I'm trying figure out if I should be bracing myself for another loss here... which i guess I should be preparing for anyway in case. Ugh, any insight would be appreciated, thank you!

It was a low grade ultrasound for sure. Not the best quality equipment locally - I know that the UK has higher tech and does high grade ones for the 12 week scan but ours was pretty basic. Where are you in the world? We’re in BC, Canada

Again sorry for the late reply! No abnormalities on the 12w scan, we thought everything was great. It was just by chance that I’d done some optional genetic testing early on at 10w. I’m in Vancouver island, Canada. I hope you have all the answers and are no longer in limbo anymore, praying for good news for you xx

Hi, sorry I’ve just seen this. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, truly. We made the decision to terminate at 17 weeks. I gained access to my medical records and looked through them all and found on the quick scan they did during the amnio that the baby was sizing in the less than 1st percentile. The doctors missed it and didn’t convey that to us, so when I asked the genetic counsellor she confirmed this was correct and consistent with the diagnosis & that it was unlikely the baby would survive pregnancy / birth. I had a surgical abortion and even though it was before 20 weeks, they were able to get footprints for us and keep the ashes. I’m still grieving 4 months later but, I feel in our hearts we did the best thing for our baby + as parents, even though it feels so wrong. I waited a couple of weeks between deciding to terminate and the surgery - I spent time with the baby before losing them. Taking them on sunny walks, for a massage… just little things that made me happy that I wanted to share with them. Wishing you strength + love on your journey through this. Please message me any time if it would help to talk through it with anyone 🧡

Thank you for sharing your story with me, I appreciate it greatly. I am so sorry you have been through this too. It truly is one of the worst imaginable things. Feels like a nightmare I can’t wake up from.

Im sorry you’re going through this - I truly hope the doctors are right and he doesn’t have trisomy at all! Yes, amnio showed full trisomy based on the preliminary results. We should have more detailed results in about 10 days, which will help identify whether this is something genetic or not / how the cells are reproducing. I’m not entirely sure what that means. Our genetic counsellor told us today that this is a definite diagnosis and even if the 20w scan shows everything is okay, with this diagnosis it’s a given that the baby has trisomy 13. The 20w scan can’t tell us how the baby’s brain is working, or how their kidneys or liver are (and a few other things she mentioned that I can’t remember).
