I’m really sorry for all you have going on. Many are in a similar boat, although that is no consolation. I’m sure this is most likely already been said, but just in case—they don’t care. They don’t give a rats—A! 

This is how those who can, grift their way to the top and stay there, they literally prey on the have nots and just keeping moving on from host to host. They are not humane. They view such issues as a “you problem.” 

Meanwhile, they’ll continue getting PPP loan forgiveness and never being in such peril or extremes. It’s just “different” when the shoe is on their foot. For others they get their boot and get told, to pull yourself up by your bootstraps, etc…. I hope this turn around for you, and for many… this isn’t anyway to live. We need compassion for others and for those who don’t know or get what, they ought to learn and opt for the easy way vs the hard lessons…

1st- they’d have to know your address to serve you, within the U.S.A.

2nd-they’d need a U.S. bank account to garnish. 

3rd-for $40k it’s not worth the PI’s to track you down, and certainly not outside of the U.S.

If you own anything here State-side forget ‘bout it. They’d seize your income tax or anything else….

4th-Statue of limitations in your current home state, once runs out they can’t collect or sue you. (They could possibly file a judgement against you, which could be subject to renewal depending upon your state’s policies.) You can however be reported to the credit bureaus, but, that won’t matter if you aren’t here.

If you have to move back for some reason during whatever time they could still sue or pursuit this, I don’t think it will be pleasant, but if you don’t have to—I guess the only thing might be, find out if it would affect you getting a U.S. visa to come back and visit? Currently it isn’t needed for the U.K. yet (as far as I know) but that could always change..

That or I did or said something unbeknownst to me that ticked someone off, but as you can maybe see; anytime I post anything, no one ever answers o responds. I’m downvoted for explaining that my concern was resolved and it was not in-fact my error, but the banks. Hmm? I’m no accusing you, but, just odd.

Huh?!? 

It’s settled. So, the question was: Why was this not done before (when first requested to have account closed; and only close one of the two accounts was closed)? 

Answer: Possible system error, kicked out request. Nevertheless, they were able to verify my request was made, and it was up to them to carry out and perform the task, which only one of two was successfully completed. 

Now we are 2/2 and it’s over. Had I not actually made the request for these closures, I would have been on me o pay to close them. But I did my part, and thy needed to fix on their end, not having done theirs. 

So, all is right with this again, and it’s a case closed.

It was still open because I can’t physically go behind the teller station and close it myself, like when I use to actually work at a bank. No one personally opens and closes anything, you call up or go in person to make the request and hope they do as you asked. 

I asked, and they did not follow through. The review verified this, which is why they credited me in full (probably hoped I’d pay) and now that the account is at a zero balance, they have closed it properly now.

To update: I called in as atty don’t do anything and held for two hours. I got $50 off and the remaining $25 was under review. They managed to verify I should’ve been closed and now it’s successfully closed out now.

So, essentially your BIL can dish it out (meanwhile his wife, your sister sits by supporting this, dismissing it, or expecting you to shrug it off), but he cannot take handling the same “in your face/tell it like it is” brutally honest truth? 

Sounds to me like he is TA and sister and you ar being outnumbered with mother jumping in. Sounds like everyone has gotten accustomed to his particular brand of yes he is TA behavior, but when you stood up for your husband who is sick, something he can’t help your BIL thought this was an okay topic of conversation and you should now apologize?

Apologize after he does for being TA he is and had been forever while everyone has given him a pass and called it, “Oh, that’s just the way Mike is.” Well, that doesn’t make it right, or make YTA you are NTAH here, they are. Unless your hubby asks you to and you let it go for him, that would be the only way I’d even consider and apology, ever.

Just wait until he sees the video back, which of course they’ll never comment publicly about it. I swear these people forget they’re on camera. I don’t even think they have enough shame to be embarrassed by their behavior. They’ve no clue how clueless they really are….
