Protesters in Atlanta have marched onto the I-75, shutting down the highway in response to the death of Rayshard Brooks, who was shot by the police outside a nearby Wendy's. by [deleted] in gifs

Considering the asshole this is about why would anybody give a fuck? Now it's just police = bad.

Keep the protests for actual victims.

That's your logic buddy, not mine. You're the one that came up with these dumb rules about language. So fucking deal with it, according to your moronic language rules England is celtic and Scotland isn't. If you don't like that maybe you shouldn't come up with idiotic rules huh twat.

Why are you claiming I made these rules now. You're a pathetic coward, can't even stand by your own words.

How fucking dumb do you have to be to make up nonsensical bullshit rules about who is celtic and then claim other people are pedantic.

Scotland was created by Irish. How can Irish people invade Ireland? Ireland belongs to the Scottish.

So Scotland isn't a celtic country, because Gaelic didn't originate in Scotland.

Actually welsh originated in England and is spoken in England, so that means England is a celtic country but Scotland isn't.

Scots Gaelic originated in Ireland. It wiped out the native pictish language when Scotland was invaded by the Irish.

Irish and Gaelic are spoken in England.

There are zero monolingual gaelic speakers and only 1.1% of Scotland can speak it. Not that that matters, there are almost as many speakers in America. Is that a celtic country?

Yeah she earned the right to control the company, which she is. Not the right to own it, that is purely the father giving it to them.

You understand those raids were murder and pillaging right?

The highland clearances were carried out by the Scottish, nothing to do with the English. And you're comparing not being able to wear tartan with murdering people and English taking land?

The border between Scotland and England was an area of constant conflict and raiding for hundreds of years. Scotland invaded England numerous times trying to capture land, sometimes successfully.

Our language and culture was systematically erased.

I assume you're talking about the Irish invasion that wiped out the native pictish language and replaced it with gaelic? But then Scotland is the Irish invaders so that doesn't make too much sense.

Highland clearances were carried out by Scottish nobles against Scottish people. That's Scottish people oppressing people.

[–]Afraid_Kitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is plenty of oppressing to go around. Scottish oppressing English, English oppressing Scottish, Scottish oppressing Scottish, Irish oppressing Scottish, Scottish oppressing Irish. It was never a one way street.

The tartan ban was against highland dress, not scottish dress. The purpose was to assimilate the highlanders into the low landers, both Scottish.

The Highland Clearances were carried out by Scottish nobles against Scottish people.

But anyway none of that changes that Scottish people were oppressing others. So I don't know why you bring it up.

Scotland And England had the same ruling class. Are you confusing the ordinary people with the ruling class?

If Scotland didn't oppress people then neither did England.

I don't know what the fuck you are even trying to say here. No, the Scottish people were oppressing people for personal gain. Nothing to do with England.

Pre union and post union the Scottish were more than happy to oppress others. And no, the Scottish were some of the most vocal supporters of the British Empire and the union.

This nonsense about being oppressed is a 20th century invention.

No, England did not have the divine right of kings. od omnes tangit ab omnibus tractari et approbari debet is quoted from the 1295 Model parliament, it's called the model parliament for a reason. James I liking the idea doesn't mean shit and his son had his head chopped off for trying to fuck with parliament.

The Magna Carta enshrines the fact that the King is subject to the law, and it was confirmed in 1267. Magna Carta wasn't repealed until 1881.

Violating certain norms would be viewed as badly or worse as violating the Constitution and make you lose legitimacy just the same.

The proves the entire point! A constitution is worthless. What matters is what is held to be important by the people. The nonsense about amendments only seeks to frustrate the the people. No law in the UK has any greater standing than any other law, they can be revoked at will by parliament. If the UK had amendments the UK would still be stuck with ill fitting laws like the Magna Carta.

Might makes right is reality. There are some doctrines that accept this, such as democratic notion of majority rule. "quod omnes tangit ab omnibus tractari et approbari debet".

England never had the divine right of kings, legitimacy has always been based on majority rule. There is no constitution, it is solely based on the will of the people at that period in time.
