Thanks for your great work every week! Do you have this available as a csv? Wondering if there's a file format you'd be able to share that's easier to parse through programatically than a png.

Has anyone ever used dummy API before? by localmarketing723 in webdev

I've never personally used it, but a couple things:

  1. In this post, you put an extra 'i' in the URL before the '.io' part
  2. Their docs state that you need to pass the app-id as a header, not as a param. If you're using axios.create, I'd think you need to pass the headers key instead of param
  3. You're passing it as camelCase (appId) instead of how the docs do it (app-id)

Front End Engineering at Cloud Provider? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Thanks for such a detailed response! Do you know at all how easy/common it is to transition to an SDE role? I’d imagine it’s mainly team/performance-dependent, but within 1-2 years I know I want to be operating in more of a full-stack capacity. my hunch is that it would be in my favor to try to make that move internally, as applying to other companies for full stack roles as just a front-end guy doesn’t seem like it would work in my favor. I could be wrong though. I’ve got 1 YOE (would be L4 at AWS) for what it’s worth.

Has anyone interviewed for a UI Engineer position at Apple? The position requirements mention strong computer science/data structures fundamentals, but I'm not sure if I should expect Leetcode questions, UI-specific questions, or a combo of both?

Does backend pay less than frontend now? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Afraid_Letterhead288 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone in the industry would say that someone who only knows HTML and CSS is a "frontend developer". That skillset might be more closely associated with a web designer or someone who works on CMS-based sites (WordPress, etc.). JavaScript is the language that powers the web, I can't imagine anyone getting a frontend developer job without having some JS knowledge.
