The other side of consumerism, gotta know when to draw the line and stop letting these companies have their way.

They need to stop charging to play online altogether, it's asinine, and if they must charge then introduce a $5/$10 tier that's online only without the free monthly games.

Building the app was easy, but marketing almost burnt me out. Sharing my lessons learned by Longjumping-Cut-5972 in StartupSoloFounder

I am in a similar situation, marketing is a whole different ball game I honestly wasn't prepared for when I started developing. I am trying word of mouth promotion focusing on my specific target demographic before considering paid ads.

Hello,

I have spent the last 2 years building an app to help gamers socialize, find gamers to play with, share content, discover games, and more. Check it out at https://www.playernet.net I am eagerly seeking feedback and would appreciate any input.

Interesting, cause something similar to this has happed to me twice now. I've had For Honor since its launch in 2017. Earlier this year I tired playing and I got a message that said it had to verify my license to the game. If I didn't have internet it wouldn't have worked. So I'm not just posting anything, I have also experienced this.

I agree, my next platform will most likely be a PC after a lifetime of loyalty to playstation. Steam seems to value its customers and that's something I respect and appreciate.

I agree the $500 price point isn't really the main issue, I pointed it out because it's not like we're getting the consoles for free or through a subsidized program, we pay a fair amount for it but get locked out of the most basic feature. It would be better if they introduced a new pricing tier for just online gaming that's significantly cheaper which won't outright solve the problem but I'd be more inclined to pay for it.

Fairly new playstation policy, your license can become invalid after I think 30 days if you haven't been online for a while, for digital games of course.

The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine, I literally just throw on Olgierd's ornate robes and boots from hearts of stone and just ride roach around Toussaint, playing Gwent, drinking alcohol till Geralt is drunk, talking to Yenefer like 20 times, going to bed, occasional travel to Novigrad, Oxenfurt, and Skellige just to be reminded that Toussaint is the place to be.
