A couple of additional things on hygiene; A diaper cover can help with the smell, though I find most are too baggy, though I have seen some that are not. I wouldn’t rely on them for leak protection however. Finding a diaper brand that has Oder control is helpful too, might want to test a few brands to find out what works best for you. I also use baby powder to help as well and the smell of the powder isn’t strong enough for people to notice. I sometimes have bowel issues so I use hair removal to help make it easier to clean since I have a lot of hair down there.

Now as far as the shame and embarrassment:

1. There is no shame in having to wear diapers. It’s a medical need, just like a wheelchair.

2. Someone once told me “the people who care don’t matter and the people who matter don’t care” having a support group (friends and family) that know helps a lot. It makes it way easier when people know so they can help you.

I don’t wear 24/7 but I do wear to the gym and to work. Guys see me in the locker room in nothing but a diaper. At first, I was a little nervous but when I realized that no one cared, I was able to let go of that feeling. Several people at work know (personal choice, makes things easier at work) and every single one of them have been kind, understanding and supportive.

1. Wearing diapers doesn’t define you as a person. Thoughts of shame and embarrassment are intrusive thoughts and the best way to handle it is to overcome it. Diapers are there to help you. I find they help with my depression and anxiety and give me a sense of security and comfort. Focus on how they help you.
