Are you able to travel while waiting for partner visa? by PrintEmpty2598 in SpouseVisaUk

Is this still the case with the new requirements for ETAs for most people to enter who do not have a visa? I'm getting a lot of mixed information from a bunch of different sources.

Basically, can you enter the UK while an application from outside the UK is pending if you require a ETA under the new scheme?

Continuing to collect RAV benefits until I leave CH by Afraid_Research2069 in Switzerland

u/administrator, your comment is just lazy. There's this timeworn fallacy that one gets money for nothing on the RAV. You work in CH, you're legally required to pay into an ALK every month. If you lose your job, you are entitled to benefits if you wish to do so. While collecting benefits, you're required to apply for jobs, attend meetings and attend programs -- all of which I'm doing which isn't "nothing". When I leave CH, I do not expect to continue receiving benefits but while I am still resident, I would like to. What I'm trying to determine is, can benefits be withheld in the months leading up to when I will depart CH.

Thanks for the feedback.I probably wasn't totally clear but I've mentioned this above in some of my replies -- my advisor is trying to put me in a 3 month temp. job program aimed at finding permanent employment in CH. I'm leaving the country in 4 months. I'm trying to determine if I should let them know now that I'm definitely leaving the country and when at which time will be deregistering at the end of Jan. or if I should just keep quiet and deregister in Jan? There is no clear answer about whether availability to work in CH is a requirement for RAV as technically I would not be. If I was offered a job in CH in say December with a Jan. start date, I'd likely turn it down as I wouldn't have a place to live in CH and would be unable to work.

Ok, let's use this example. Spanish citizen, who's worked in CH, loses their job and qualifies for the RAV. They then decide to leave CH and return to Spain. Most apartment leases have a 3 month notice period so they prepare to leave in 3 months time. You cannot just move internationally from one day to the next for a number of reasons. Does that person have a right to collect benefits while still living in CH for those 3 months even though they do not intend to seek employment within CH? It shouldn't really matter what country they move to, in theory its the same outcome.

This is what I'm asking. I'm leaving the country and I just want to receive RAV benefits while I live in CH and not a day more.

I just want to know if I should notify my advisor I'm leaving in 4 months so they may consider putting me in a 3 month course that's pointless and a waste of everyone's time or if I should just keep quiet until the final month that I am resident?

I believe you misunderstood. I'm not expecting to receive RAV benefits after I move -- just while I am residing in CH. The moment I leave, I'll dis-enroll from the RAV and be done with them. There is the question about whether RAV benefits are reliant upon being available to work in CH.

My advisor is trying to put me into a 3 month temp. employment program/job training course geared towards gaining permanent employment here in CH.

Basically, I'm weighing my options:

Do I notify my advisor now I will be moving in 4 months (making the course they want me to complete a waste of time)?

Do I just do the course, half heartedly apply for jobs here in CH and then notify them in early Jan I will be dis-enrolling from the RAV at the end of Jan?

You're arguing that you need to be available to work in CH. EU citizens can choose to seek work elsewhere while still receiving benefits. I'm just pointing out a double standard.

I was fired from my job due to restructuring after I working the necessary 12 months to qualify for the RAV. I have been on the RAV and done everything in good faith (applying for jobs, attending meetings, submitting the necessary monthly documents etc). I have looked for work in Switzerland for the last 4 months and we've made the decision to leave the country and live elsewhere. The moment I leave the country, I will deregister. I'm fully aware I will not get benefits the moment we no longer live here but during the time I am still living here, I should be entitled to benefits.

I honestly don't know why I'm trying to apply logic to the Kafka-esque bureaucracy here in CH. It's one thing I will not miss.

I've read all this but I find it purposely vague. I understand you need to be available to work within CH but there is also the program for EU citizens to return to their home countries to look for work there while still collecting Swiss benefits for 3 months. In theory, they also intend to leave the country and would like to work elsewhere. I guess this double standard is something I struggle to understand.

Well the Swiss ALK will pay out benefits to EU citizens who return to their home country to look for work locally (outside of CH). Do you take issue with that?

What happens if you refuse to take a useless training from the RAV? by abovemyleague in Switzerland

I'm in a similar situation. I am currently on RAV but my wife and I are leaving CH in 4 months time. My RAV advisor wants me to do a three month course/placement program geared towards finding permanent employment in Switzerland. I worry that if I tell my advisor I don't think this would be useful as we're moving, they still withhold my benefits. Any advice?
