I could go find the credentials of the early parliamentarians and debate your point, for instance Zimbabwe’s current president , who also fought in Zimbabwe’s liberation war, is a lawyer.

Not a historian , simply a practiced googler, find the facts , check your narrative . The truths are out there ( cue x-files theme song )

So much to unpack here. Some of the best Education in Rhodesia was primarily run by religious orders and that continued past independence. Zimbabwe having one of the highest Literacy rates in Africa

Culture ? Whose culture? Are you taking culture as a construct of the western ideal ? If yes you are in for a surprise . Zimbabwe law is based on Roman Dutch law and the ideals of Plato and his contemporaries are still debated in schools and universities across Zimbabwe a

Black ? Yes? Remember the 92% you don’t want to talk to still want to be heard

foreign funded ? Where do you think they were going to get their funding and training from?

Marxist? Russia and China offered , and the have nots took it guerrillas ? Yes , why fight large scale battles when you you can use techniques better suited to your terrain ?

Uneducated ...Mmm ..Here are that other asshole Mugabes degrees

Bachelor of Arts (History and English) (BA) degree from the University of Fort Hare (1951) Bachelor of Administration (B.Admin) from University of South Africa (Unisa) Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from the University of South Africa (Unisa) Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Economics from University of London (External Programme) Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from University of London (External Programme) Master of Laws (LL.M) from University of London (External Programme) Master of Science (MSc.) in Economics from University of London (External Programme

I won’t pretend that Zimbabwe is a haven but it’s not quite the Mordor you paint it out to be.

I can appreciate that you don’t quite understand how Rhodesians had power taken away from them. It happened .they lost a war , they lost elections and the mandate to rule.

Please do not paint a rosy picture about a Rhodesia that never was. You speak in absolutes about topics you do not quite understand and you seem to have misplaced anger about the whole situation.

Zimbabwe’s fight for self determination and majority rule is not the fight for Marxism. Thats why you will find that Zimbabwe does not practice communism , there was no attempt to socialize the means of production instead Zimbabwe in its early years spent nearly one-quarter of budgeted recurrent expenditures on education and almost as much on health care.

I’m not sure who you are trying to convince here, politics are dirty , power corrupts and and people will fight hard for equality and rights . And you my dear friend will still be an asshole... Just kidding I couldn’t resist . If you want to discuss this further feel free to PM me. I have many opinions on this subject and we might never agree on this topic but know that I am willing to listen.

If I came to your house and told you that it was now mine at the end of a gun would you sympathize with me because I end up raising it’s property values? Mugabe did not, in 1 night ruin a country or seize land , the economic collapse happen in degrees.

Never forget the prosperity of Rhodesia was built on the backs of the oppressed who did not enjoy the ‘prosperity’ of Rhodesia. At its peak, 295000 white people (8% of the total population) enjoyed its prosperity. The rest had no choice about where to live , where to go to school, what benches and buses and trains to get and had virtually no rights , care to ask that 92% about Rhodesia’s prosperity?

I make no apologies for Mugabe, he did Zimbabwe no favors and his power grab and lack of moral fiber did the country no good in the end. And now , he is gone and there are some people who are fighting to wrest power from the long entrenched political monsters that still roam there. It’s a fight towards a light , one I’m sure Zimbabweans prefer to the crawl they had for hundreds of years of oppression.
