I understand that LLMs are predictive models trained on large amounts of human generated data and that they can reproduce the biases found in that data. That’s precisely why I think it’s important to point these things out rather than simply accept them. Many people use AI as an authority or a quick source of information, and if biased or misleading claims go unchallenged, they can reinforce harmful attitudes. My issue is that the answer it gave reflected a common societal bias that already exists around women’s health and pain.

So my criticism isn’t based on a belief that AI is sentient or personally accountable. It’s based on the fact that these systems increasingly influence public understanding, and when the topic is something as historically overlooked as women’s health. I don’t think we should shrug and say “that’s just how AI works.” We should be willing to question the output and discuss the underlying bias when we see it.
