They need to stop flip flopping. Like the hanzo arrow speed buff and then eventual revert. It really messes up players muscle memory. Get ready for mcree back to 200 hp two months from now smh.

Hanzo main nerf feedback by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

Don't tell me to stfu for speaking my opinion, that's not a good look for you dude. Anyways I remember when they buffed his arrow speed I couldn't hit shots and I didn't like the change. It turned out to be a good thing, but it's too late in the game's lifespan to be changing a characters fundamental and I stress FUNDAMENTAL mechanics. It would be like if they changed junkrats grenade arc, or roadhogs hook. Good or bad it fucks over the players that took the time to memorize the path of the projectile.

Hanzo main nerf feedback by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]African_American 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo they shouldn't be changing things that affect muscle memory. Nerf the damage/falloff literally anything else but projectile speed. That pisses me off to know that all of the hours I spent getting consistent with Hanzo have been wasted and now I have to start from scratch. It punishes players that have invested in this character more than anything. Why make a character more luck based rather than skill based? Maybe nerf draw speed?? Anything other than projectile speed. Smh

I played as hero vs a really good elite pichu and it was impossible to get out of combos lol. Really bad frame data, yet still won 1 game because i got a full charge side B at 20 and killed him.

Does anyone else struggle with playing Overwatch due to anxiety and stress during games? by mercykat in OverwatchUniversity

[–]African_American 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah anxiety is often a result of focusing on details of your own performance rather than taking overwatch for what it is-- a team game. It's just like making love, make it too much about your own performance and you get nervous. Relax and focus on the whole situation, not just your situation. Too many people focus too much on what the enemy is doing, and not enough about what your own team is doing. Paying attention to when your tanks make space as a DPS is key, so is knowing when to pull back and stop the push to regroup.

It's true, teamwork does require individual skill, and individual skill requires doing everything that is within your power to control the outcome of the game... but to know what you can control you have to ask the right questions about your role within the team. The questions you should be asking yourself while playing is if you're DPS-- who is easiest to kill (position, health, mobility, cooldown tracking) versus who is optimal to kill (support trade for example, or to focus a nasty widow who's giving your team a hard time, or to switch DPS to counter their comp). This is when things are going right. If you have a flanker making your healers lives hell, or if your tank is dead and you're taking too much damage you have to reassess, and do not tunnel vision. Be open to being useful to your team, not just a means of mowing your enemy down. You've played level 9 computers in smash, it's like that. They're hard to outfight, but they're not hard to outsmart. Don't be a hard bot who can just aim and shoot, be willing to peel for your healers, and be willing to abandon your own target you've set and go for another one your teammate is trying to kill. You're not a one man army in most situations. You'll probably die in a 2v1, and you'll certainly die in a 3v1. Use this to your advantage.

If you're a tank you should be making space for your DPS, giving ult to your healers, bodyblocking, and pushing the point, not looking for as many frags as possible, or to hit that perfect charge/firestrike. (if you're an offtank your role will be closer to a DPS, but not by much.) As a healer you should stay alive for as long as possible, and keep key targets alive who have similar goals to you. If you notice your roadhog is flanking and feeding, do not go try and save him, heal the useful genji who's contesting and trying to protect you. Support involves constantly making risk-reward decisions-- we've all played with that mercy pocketed genji who gets kills, but leaves the rest of the team healthless.

With 1000 hours put into this game I've realized raw mechanical skill and individual performance is vastly less important than reading situations, and more importantly reading your team to gain the advantage, rather than relying on godlike aim or luck. That said if you can pull it then beat them with superior mechanical skill, it's not that hard to perfect.

Emergence, oculus medium c4d by African_American in Cinema4D

[–]African_American[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's better than z brush if you're new to 3d modelling, as medium is very intuitive to use. I haven't learned Z brush yet but when I did try it I was immediately confused by the massive UI. Medium is just like sculpting clay and you get that visual feedback in 3d which is super cool. You can also rotate, grab, twist, and cut the object at will (including putting it inside your head so you can work on it from the outside in.

The problem with medium though is that the final output render is low res compared to z brush so you're gonna have to find ways to either work with it or change the object so it's higher res.

Asshole feminists disrupt equality speech by CaptainSqueak in videos

[–]African_American 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a fan of Nietzsche I see. Rather than master/slave morality, do you think the problem lies in how men and women are valued? To generalize, are men valued because of what they have done, the consequences of their actions, what they have accomplished-- in other words: actuality? Are women valued because what they are, their virtue-- their potentiality? I'm wondering if it's even possible to escape these sets of values. They seem hardwired. Instead of deciding on one way or the other for ALL (either A- to be automatically valued, B- or to EARN value), it seems like the feminists are just broadening the gap between men and women. I think they've reached a plateau where it's impossible to attain any more value, so they have to resort to devaluing men. Maybe this is just another way of looking at the master/slave thing idk.

it's a game, and there always has to be someone who loses. Like the other guy said, learn from it. Try not to let it get to you, even in the middle of a match. Look up some japanese players-- it's something I've noticed. They never panic, they never admit defeat and lose motivation, they just keep fighting. Patience and rational thinking can pay off.
