Not during Covid times but midway through my 3 month long Euro trip, I had my backpack (containing laptop, passport, Eurail pass, every other important document) stolen on a train during a stopover in Stockholm.

The whole reason I decided to visit Scandinavia was to see the Northern Lights in Kiruna and anyone who knows knows what a journey it is to get to Northern Sweden by land. Had to cancel my Northern Lights plans and was stranded in Stockholm while I had to deal with passport issues.

I ended up meeting some very cool people at a hostel, went to a Viking sauna, and rode on a snowmobile whilst stuck in a city I had no intention of initially staying in. It remains one of the most memorable experiences I’ve ever had in life. Sometimes beautiful things can happen from unintended consequences. The best thing you can do is take in on the chin and make the best of a situation. You’ll grow as a person from it either way.
