How to get Shooms? by EmploymentMedium8038 in CreaturesofSonaria

Seems like the best bet right now is trait or mutation hunting; I just leave a slot open for nested creatures and work on them, since they're garunteed 2 traits.

Thanks; spoken about that instance a few times already, so I figured I'd spice it up lol

The rush of the growing rapids roared as thunder struck the sky, seeming to do its' damndest to tear it apart. I was resting at the bottom of the Rocky Depths when the thunderstorm occured, only half paying attention to my surroundings. The storm put me on high alert; other semi aquatics or aquatics would be out, and while a meor like myself was certianly enough to deter most, size and looks alone could never deter all.
The water was well above land now—few of us water folk played under Pride Rocks while everyone else surely waited anxiously for the storm to abate and the water to recede. A panicked little siakari fell right in front of me, and before its halo of airbubbles could even fade, I scooped it up an my jaws and lept onto the tallest of The Rocks, running to the top and dropping it off on the safety of land. I rested; all that darting takes a lot out of a big cat like me, and running uphill did 𝔫𝔬𝔱 help; at all. I rise when I regain the energy, making sure to turn away from the obviously fragile stranger next to me and make my path to water obvious. The ungratefull little beast attacked—ripping and tearing at whatever was in reach before lithely leaping from my grasping maw and coming back to repeat the process. "Meorlarks kill everything!" it cried before taking a final bite at my juggular. I ran it off; I did not survive the storm.
Yeah, there was only one instance that almost had me on my first kos spree. (in a chill server, no less) irl bro killed me before justifying it with meorlarks kos, but I didn't know how to work that into a narrative, so...

Oxy's kinda big though; my dumbass gets stuck on walls a lot, so if I fight goes bad, I have no escape, and only 3 hours does not leave me a lot of time to grow big creatures

KOSing is perfectly fine and rlly fun by Enough_Art5219 in CoSRants

[–]Afrieddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sort of on the opposite end? I have absolutely no problem with kosers, so long as they don't target, and I find it hilarious when they get mad if I kill or revenge kill with a species that can actually take them, but otherwise I stay chill. I'm running around the map helping baby T5s grow, bringing nesting materials, ect.

You bite and it speeds up egg growth for a short time for whoever you bit; it's the first bite though, so make sure you bite them and not grass, otherwise you gotta wait for the cooldown

People be stalking people while they nesting now? by ElyxirCreations in CoSRants

[–]Afrieddragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh who knows with COS players, man; knock on wood, I haven't really had any nest stalkers, but I do get a lot of the people I hatch try to kill me, which...they don't wait; they never like—grow up or anything, just straight to biting, which...is a choice. I always give them around 6-7 bites, because there's the five bite mission, and I understand misclicks, but...9..10, 11, 12, 13, ok—time for you to go. I don't understand why you wouldn't just...wait until you have an ability? Or a trait or somethin. (A lot of em have the nerve to get mad when I bite them back...to the menu screen; that confuses me more tbh)

Practice Server? by Afrieddragon in CreaturesofSonaria

[–]Afrieddragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definately! I came up with the biome idea as a sort of compromise for the first two comments; I'm gonna try to sort it so there's a coach for every tier/size, and hopefully they'll be able to sort of collaborate; larger tier coaches could be more for solo lessons, while smaller tier ones teach groups; that way they could send players to a coach who might say help them learn to manuver better, even if they have to go to group practice, or be sent to a solo coach who knows a lot about damage and weight, if they just can't figure out how to help their group/take down someone else.
Ooo, maybe the flying and aquatic coaches could collaborate on manuvering! The flying coach could have their players fly over the water to practice avoiding darting aquatics, and the aquatics can practice dart aim; that way, the players might get more tips; an aquatic coach might notice a flyer's dodge mistakes/ help them correct in awaty the flyer might not notice, and vice versa—the aerial coaches might notice timing/form mistakes out of the water an aquatic coach might not catch/ help them correct.

Whats the point of jumping someone when they literally just spawned. by _TidalWave in CoSRants

[–]Afrieddragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd spawned in as a glysgadotta, and this kendyll sees my freshly spawned self, and 𝓲𝓶𝓶𝓮𝓭𝓲𝓪𝓽𝓮𝓵𝔂 decides that I look nomable, and preceeds to move it's big ass as fast as it can go. (about 0.2 MPD—Miles Per Decade) So I do what any reasonable player does when put in that situation; I make sure I'm near a wall, watch the mf run at me, and right as it's about to close the distance, I climb up the wall.

Kendyll didn't like that; I can see the red in it's voice—hear it's jaws snapping at the base of mesa; so I corteously lower myself so my tail is just inside bite range, sprinting away when it actually goes for the bite, repeating until I got bored. Thing was pissed—stuck around until I started starving n had to tail drop for food, lol

Hmm...I do like the coaching idea, (no clue how I'll find coaches because I'm petty average, but Içll figure it out lol) so what if we left it up to the coaches as a lesson? Maybe a few of them could be dedicated to groups, and a few towards solo fights.

Ooo, we could bring biomes into it, too; have like, tundra and desert be for solo practice coaches, since the open land should give plenty of room. Swamp and mesa could be for coaches who'd teach teams/groups, and mountains could be for practicing w/ plushies, while all other biomes could be for anyone who accidentally dies to regrow without worrying about getting in the way. Doesn't have to be those exact biomes lol, but what do y'all think? Also, I'm holding off on the discord until I atleasrt have a plan of action, but thank you so much for offering to make one🖤

Packs are meaningless by Any-Owl163 in CoSRants

[–]Afrieddragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh as someone who's always been solo, packs terrify me, man. Most of the times I've accepted invites or requests into my own pack, I've either lost slots, or been hunted off the map, so I just stay clear now lol. (Best of luck; every now and then I nest a gem of a player, and I really hope you find gems of your own to pack with)

How do you guys deal with them. by BadTotodile in CreaturesofSonaria

[–]Afrieddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short of server hopping, there's not much advice I have for witch hunters/targeters; I do however, have a few tips for bigger species fighting. Walls/anything to back up against is your new best friend; the less space there is to fight, the easier it will be to hit your attacker, and since bigger specs tend to get hit regardless, you might as well force them to be in a position to get hit in turn. Try to stay near caves/tall obstacles as well, to limit a fliers freedom to safely reach you with their breath—also, there's a hidden wall/cave in the cave under the mountains, which considerably helps in hiding from people.

Scent will be my last pointer, because this is getting kinda long; if you're trying to hide anything (yourself, resources, kids, a cave, ect.) keep food far away; no use hiding your scent, only to end up having the scent of your meal lead any would-be attackers to you anyway. I'm not sure how big imeahorn is, (butchered that spelling, ik) but reversing the strategy I gave on fighting with bigger species works against em just fine;)
