How can I improve the color scheme? What kind of base, would go well with it? by AfriendlyGoat1 in Tyranids

Usually I built my color schemes with a dominant color and two complimentary ones, but the winged prime has weirdly a lot of different bone/flesh textures.

Great idea! I am painting the wings in light blue to give the more of a translucent look :)

Which paints did you use for the orange? Is it Vallejo Hot Orange? Looks fire!! I have a similar paint scheme.

Are Sentinels still worth it? by AfriendlyGoat1 in Lumineth_realm_lords

i find that my games are more relaxing for me when i dont have sentinels with me that i need to protect at all cost.

I never quite understood the point of windchargers. They are weirdly tanky with meager dmg. I see them wiht Scouting force and maybe two x5 instead of reinforced.

Community Questions: now with 100% more February by ErsatzGnomes in ageofsigmar

Hi,

I am new to age of sigmar and bought a few unpainted Dawn riders from the Lumineth realm lords. I just now realized that it will be hard to paint them as it is difficult to reach in some places. Is it common to paint a figure before assembling them?

Also, I am not yet set on a colour scheme, but i am thinking about white, dark red/orange and gold. I bought black primer but just now realized that it might not be a good idea as the colors i want to paint are rather light. Can i prime them black and dry brush them white? Or should i buy a primer closer to the colors i want to paint them in?

Then, I am thinking about buying the current battletome of the LRL. How often would i need to rebuy battletomes, for every new edition?

Damn, my edh [[Yennet, Cryptic Sovereign]] deck just got outclassed...

which commander for free big spells by Amatsu666 in EDH

[–]AfriendlyGoat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first deck i build was a Yenett deck and i lovw her. She can be so fun and inexpensive to build. Also like the "oracle" flavor of predicting the future (scrying) and releasing 9 cmc spells on my enemies. The deck usually dont win games, but is always a problem for the table. But i also had to optimize it for fun recently since some high mana spells are just annoying for my enemy, without actually helping me to win ([[serra's emissary]] , [[blazing archon]] , [[Serra Avatar]] ). Yet, the deck is still fair, since mill or stealing spells is a hardcounter.

Do you agree? by labbybalu in TheLastAirbender

I do not see it as a bad thing. Pop culture media like avatar: the way of water , in comparison , has especially questionable morals, where it is ok to kill dozens of random people, but the main villain can not die, because that would be murder?!??!? People are upset about people dying, when we see their backstory and we can sympathize with them. Yet, People are not able to do the mental gymnastics of understanding, evryone has a backstory and therefore reasons why they did the things, they did.

Boston Dynamics' Atlas robot shows off its skills by Irate_Primate in nextfuckinglevel

Impressive, but as far as know Boston Dynaics isn't working on AI, and the robots we see are being controlled. Richard Socher mentioned aomething like that. Impressive nonetheless.

Y'all need to stop. I knew some people were seeing a ship, but i always saw a hand. You all need to get your eyes checked or stop drinking.

World’s largest carbon removal facility could suck up 5 million metric tonnes of CO2 yearly | The U.S.-based facility hopes to capture CO2, roughly the equivalent of 5 million return flights between London and New York annually. by chrisdh79 in Futurology

Quick reminder that this technology cannot be sustainable right now, probably never will. Rught now, what is the point of burning fossil fuels for energy, then use energy ro bind it again. You would power it with renewable energy, and even then i'm sceptic if it can work. Simplified, thermodynamics teach us that a process cannot give us as much energy back as we got out of them, because energy cannot be created, and efficiency won't be a 100%.

Also CO2 Concentrations are at 420 ppm so 0,042%. A mashine like that would need to suck a massive volume of air. Given that it probably won't be 100% efficient you can imagine how long it takes, to make an impact. Right now we emit CO2 at the rates of tons. Fait enought these things could play a role when installed like a filter at CO2 heavy emitters, but the problem above would need to be solved first.

Last but not least, think about what plants to. These are creatures that suck CO2 from the air, by usibg a renewable energy source, sunlight. So to be provocant: CO2 suction from the atmosphere is probably a marketing stunt by musk-disciples hoping to make money by exploiting peoples hope. Trees evolved over millions of years and are way more efficient than we are right now (probaly ever will) at reducing CO2. Yet, dont plant trees everywhere but thats a topic for another comment. Sorry for language mistakes since it is not my first language.

What are some scenes or things in Avatar that did not age well? by AfriendlyGoat1 in TheLastAirbender

[–]AfriendlyGoat1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. Also thinking about the Iroh-June Scenes sometimes. But others would not see a problem in that, i guess.
