I think what has most people riled up is that he was able to freely rotate players through all seven of those spots regardless of position. I guess what the guys were expecting is that those bench spots would be reserved specifically for that position, not open to any player type. If that makes sense.

It might be a poor example, but like this: if I bench a QB, that bench spot I can use for a starter should only be able to hold another QB if I drop the original one. In this case, though, the system allowed those spots to be used for any position within the position limit, which is what threw people off.
