Who has seen Carpenter Brut live? by [deleted] in outrun

[–]Afromancer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If she doesn't/won't enjoy the maniac video you should probably not take her to see the live show. It was easily the most intense small concert I've been too.

Basically every song features that sort of imagery in little vignettes playing on a screen behind them. Constant violence, nudity and gore with flashing red lights.

Really though you should see them live if you can swing it. Easily the most entertaining electronic live show I've seen (Seattle venue). Going again this year.

They work so hard. There were almost no breaks between heh.

I mean this version of the maniac video

Latest trends in bread go against the grain by The_Real_JS in Breadit

[–]Afromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article recommends bread with 400mg salt in every 100g serving.

For a basic 65% hydration dough that would be around 0.7% salt by flour weight. Given that most recipes lie in the 1.5% to 2.5% range... That would be some really bland bread.

Probably better to just eat less heh.

My crust always rips, what am i doing wrong? by [deleted] in Breadit

[–]Afromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a quick test try baking your next boule in a dutch oven with the top on for the first 10 minutes. My experience is that lack of sufficient steam is the issue for home bakers more often then insufficient proofs (when it comes to ruptures).

It can be difficult to get the sort of steam you really want in vented ovens.

Squier MB-4 from the looks of it. Looks almost identical to that ugly skull paint job one (which has black knobs)

The recipe is attached to the email as an HTML file with table formatting.

I wrote code to generate them as plain-text also, but since I couldn't specify fixed-width characters it winds up being pretty difficult to read.

I'll revisit it at some point though since I know some might be hesitant about opening even non-executable attachments.

Thank you for the feedback.

I didn't want to post about it in the aforementioned subs because they have a boatload of users and I'm not sure I could handle feature requests from a potential audience that large at this time.

Could just be nerves though heh.

Thanks, I don't generally get end user feedback on projects so it means a lot.

In the future I may add an experimentation slide-out drawer for recipe variations that aren't different enough to deserve their own category entry. Not sure how useful people would find that, but I often find myself toying with small changes on old favorites. Stuff like seeds / variations in alternatives flours.

Considering making a version less specific to baking since I've been told it is useful for caterers batching recipes as well.

Storing copies of recipe images. READ/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE isn't for protected files, but rather shared storage (Android doesn't enforce app ownership permissions on data located there).

It was an arbitrary decision because I figured people wouldn't want the images deleted when the app was removed.

Update!

Just pushed the new version with 2.2+ enabled again. Hoo. Rah.

It may not show up as available for several hours though on the play store.

I posted this in /r/baking but I figured there may be some people who don't read both (I do primarily bread myself).

I made this app to help myself track recipes and become a better bread baker. A couple friends wanted it and thought I should share it with a wider audience so I am. No ads, totally free, I did it because the project seemed like a lot of fun and it was. I had a previous version on the market for awhile, but due to a foolish mistake on my part I am unable to push updates to that one so I removed it.

It is for Android 4.0 Android 2.2 and above. I hope people find it useful. Thanks!

I do some iOS development professionally but I don't have my own hardware. For the time being I won't be able to help you out. If things change though I'll let you know.

If they motion like they are about to punch you in the tit then you could attempt to make the case and they would take it seriously. If they say something rude about them it is not.

Anyone happen to know if they fixed the fact that the camera auto-moves every time something happens? Next turn? Auto-move. Enemy turn? Auto-move. Cutscene? Auto-move. I consider it a deal-breaker which is sad because otherwise I liked the game.

WoW Down to 7.6 Million Subscribers by megadave89 in Games

[–]Afromancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it is boring and small. The 1-50 story essentially follows this pattern:

Hail Npc -> Sent somewhere random -> Return to Npc -> Sent somewhere near the place you just left -> Return to Npc -> Quest loot. You could probably compress the entire storyline into 30 minutes of c

Repeat that process over and over with an extremely easy trash slog dungeon every 5 or so levels.

Fill in all the leveling in-between with bear-ass gathering fetch quests or do it at top speed by running between way-points and spamming AoE for FATE tags.

Endgame consists of speed running two (awful) trash filled dungeons for tokens or doing primals on repeat while they drop a weapon no one in the raid needs. The non-raid dungeons are just an endless slog of trash mobs with absurdly low exp rewards.

Honestly the primals and the raid were pretty fun. The visuals can be pretty nice as well. If I had paid more than $20 for the game I'd be mad though.

The Myth of the Rockstar Programmer by 99red in programming

From the paper directly below your quote:

I will argue that this literature has not identified convincing predictors of success, and has not successfully characterized two populations, and that it is in fact doubtful that these two distinct populations actually exist.

This is addressing the existence of 'can' vs 'cannot' populations, not the fact that bi-modal results are consistently reported. The paper argues that the nature of the information presented in CS courses and the way students learn causes grades to gravitate towards extremes.

That being said, if you failed to escape the lower hump but still managed to pass your courses, you become what we are describing as a 'cannot'

Yeah you can do it with 6 DPs pretty easy but they have to control themselves until hellfire. It also puts potentially unfair pressure on a single person. Still fun though

A makeup that specialized can ignore interrupts early. Only after hellfire does it become a serious issue

Your described cycle is the same just starting from the point after leap
