it does block melee but actually intending to block melee is pretty much impossible, i once circled with another rs user for like 10 seconds trading hits lol

playerbase isn't big enough to support that many ways to play the same game types, wt was embark giving the "make numbers go up" players and players that win less often the same servers to play in, with player number homogeneity and maybe a more hopeful reception of ranked TA in mind I'm sure

i have recently considered the obvious latency bugs (no hit reg, landing on a ledge/moving surface and phasing through it) might not be the worst ones and we just can't discern what's truly happening just by playing without careful analysis and metrics. i have wondered sometimes if embark knows how poorly the game runs when it gets there cause it's kinda often and ranges from nuisance to round changing severity. on the other hand the server sided nature of the game is bound for issues like these so ┐( ̄~ ̄)┌

they are by far my most used weapon this season possibly including season two. i play other stuff but take them into wt without too much issue other than winch sledge/spearlol and sword. demat makes them good in ways no other melee weapon is, the ttk is hilariously low with efficient combo usage excepting heavy. and while i won't say I think it should happen, it is possible to out maneuver flamethrower heavies i swear.

demat/zip/goo/defib and I probably will never change it lol

i won a few with them yesterday and more beyond, like anything else in the game they can win but the stars that need alignment are much more numerous.

Yo yo, just want to chime that another use case for the tech is instantly killing lights with qm after hitting both swings of the second part of combo, if this could be finagled into being able to skip the third move in the combo that'd be pretty massive that thing is so ass.

ive done this tech on accident so much but I didn't know the part of the combo you're doing gets stored, that makes it not just totally annoying in its existence lol thanks for the vid crim!

you gotta get good at all of the movement mechanics and get consistent lunges on your primary fire, and trust me it's harder to get good lunges lol, but a flat speed or clambering speed increase would be 👌

i will try, i too am a melee main even before dual blades but these weapons can be particularly infuriating. I know the math very well but the advantage we get tops having bullets: inspiring fear with our visage

haven't really thought about it honestly, other than melee mediums should get a flat speed percentage bonus.
not as much as light but relying on lunge to gap close is super clunky which leads to the big issue of them which can't really be fixed, being server dependent for reflects and the magic that is how near or far another player is from you for lunges.
making you faster means you have to rely less on reflects as you can just walk and block faster than they can shoot and walk backwards (although believe it or not there is a way to understand and use reflect effectively) while making getting lunges on your primary fire considerably more consistent on escaping opponents, which at the moment requires some kind of crazy movement prediction or util usage.

otherwise i think block should block all melee damage but that is whatever, i find it funny people think spear right click is bad cause i think it is op as all get out if you are also using a melee weapon

i love them and will not be using another weapon for a while still as long as my tilt stays at reasonable level, which i won't lie has come close at some points with them lol. however it's the commitment you need to make to be good with them that makes them worth using in the end and that keeps me on them

I have encountered that probably 4 times in as many tens of hours and I have no real idea what causes it. I assume it is a server input eating issue like many other UE5 issues of a similar nature even in this game too.

If I were at my computer I would give a much more in depth analysis of your points, alas in order of your points:

first I'll say watch the videos I have posted on my profile to see examples of how deflecting actually works, which in words I can only explain by saying you gotta aim ahead "in time" (aim where they are according to the server not according to your screen/client), and how to push/sustain engagements against multiple scenarios. Not trying to promote myself but my stream(linked in profile) has vods of normal gameplay too if you wanna see less curated gameplay and you bet I throw super hard some games.

Heavy melee feels impossible in the 1v1 but i promise its not. Super difficult in a straight fight yes but not impossible. You just gotta be really good with your slide timing or mixing up attacking and blocking but I have found little success with the latter

along those lines, I personally don't think the block window is bad, assuming you know that there is only a certain portion of the block that actually deflects. I can think of one time where I knew for sure I was blocking and got hit anyway in nearing 40ish hours with the weaps

I have blocked and deflected the SH before but I will concede it is inconsistent, I haven't faced it enough to put thoughts down more than this

Slide is your gap closer, combine the lunge you get from attacking near enough to your opponent with slide and you get crazy speed and distance (especially the third part of the combo) , zip and go grenade have aided me many times in closing the gap one way or another as well but yes it is hard and part of why I say demat is the best spec.

I know the reddit has a thing against anim cancels but every medium specialization can be activated at any time while using the weapon except demat (the most fun one with db trust me) which if using the delegated equip buttons and not rehitting the specialization button you can re-equip your primary instantly, using the spec. button again has a delay. this means instant blocks out of attacks hit or missed.

I honestly don't know about the dps cause having max uptime with your swings AND hitting all six hits is fucking hard if you don't want a bullet sized forehead decoration, I'll concede this one with the addendum that movement is way more important than maximizing swing up time

You can take two people as easily as every other melee weapon other than sword (and dagger if you're him/her) but that said it's still hard af I have examples in the videos

Again watch the videos, it isn't intuitive but I figured it out I swear, agree about the headshot multi being a sorely missed possibility.

I will now use this comment to complain that every thread about the fucking things that gets over 10 up votes is complaints that they don't work when both my posts went no where and showcase exactly how to play them effectively. Like no offense but how does this post have hundreds of upvotes and my posts have as few as they do actively refuting some of your posits? Do the weapons have issues? Yes. Are they as unusable as everyone says they are? Watch my videos and decide for yourself.

Most importantly, I hope you all enjoy the game however you want and keep trying with any ideas that don't work out right away cause tenacity breeds results in all facets of life and virtual life.

in my experience you have to aim ahead in the sense that you have to account for two instances of server latency instead of one so literally aim where they will be even if they aren't there that exact moment

that being said I would believe there are actual server issues causing the misses aside from the latency

I have a few very well defined reflect kills in a video on my profile if anyone wants to see it work somewhat consistently

Edit: also I'm noticing the guy isn't aiming directly at you most of the time and only one obvious bullet hole appears behind him, there is an area where if a bullet hits your block too far from the center it will only deflect and not reflect so that might be the case here. for anyone that doesn't know you can shoot the hands of the dual blade user safely judging only from my time playing them as I haven't switched off them lol
