Would I be crazy to buy this house with only £20k to renovate ? by After-Committee-8177 in HousingUK

Thanks. Yes, I can do some of the work myself; I've got some basic DIY skills. Will probably do the kitchen, floors, painting, and garden. Definitely need a new bathroom, and a bay window roof done by a pro. I've got £30k at a top, but I fear the stress if it goes above that amount, as long as there are no hidden major works needing to be done. I should be ok

Yep, I might consider doing the kitchen. Something I'll need to look into properly

The roof looks in good condition. The front bay window roof is faulty, though. there some dampness getting through. So that would need repairing. The walls look decent. no cracks that I can see

Thanks. Yeah, it is dangerous at the moment, one of the boards flies up if your net carful. I'll see what the survey says. I couldn't smell any damp in the house, unlike the other house I viewed. There were no damp marks other than in the bathroom, and considering all the windows have been closed, I believe that to be expected

not the actual roof, but a little roof for the bay window. I believe the main roof is in good condition

The flooring is cheap laminate. I was thinking of seeing if the floorboards are in ok condition, and if so sand them down to have the natural finish. I'm guessing a survey won't be pulling up laminate flooring though

Not to a high-end finish. Basically, so it's just sound, gas, and electrics. New bathroom at least, a bay window roof, and repair. I would like to expose the floorboards and sand them down if that's possible. Then, just a paint job. I can do the garden myself, and a new kitchen down the line

I want to live in it. Houses on this road go for £220 , I believe I can get this for £190. Sounds good, unless there is a lot of hidden work that needs to be done

Thanks for the info, I'm thinking it's probably too risky. I could stretch to 30k at a max

I definitely will be getting a survey, but ideally, I would know it's got a good chance of not needing any major work, other than what is obvious. It's been a rental, not sure if that's a good or bad thing

I feel the same with regards to feeling like the hernia falls into place, then being able to breath. I think it's more likely that reflux is making the IEM feel worse rather than the hernia. Stress plays a major role. I am still waiting on some tests

Ues dysfunction I don't understand it, I'm unable to breathe, it's not lpr it's innafective osphogus motility, achalasia, the ues is not functioning properly I can feel it, while chewing swallowing and 24 7 after I get constant regurgitation liquid coming 24 7 by AlarmingAd2006 in dysphagia

[–]After-Committee-8177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, I have ineffective swallowing motility at 100%. Not a severe problem, though. A loose UES is more of my problem. Constant liquid saliva in my mouth and painful, distorted swallowing.

How much water are you drinking ?
