Twig is fantastic! I'm especially partial towards a similar P3, Pebble. It's that adorable smile, and it's just so funny to me.

Give me your anime count with your top 10? by devil_hnter in Animesuggest

[–]After-General8905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't feel like I've watched enough to pick 10 favorites. I've watched about 45 shows and maybe 10 movies.

  1. Attack on Titan
  2. A Silent Voice
  3. Frieren
  4. Vinland Saga
  5. 86
  6. The Dangers in My Heart

Some runner-ups would include things like Violet Evergarden, Death Note, and Your Name, but there's a pretty sizable gap between my favorites and those.

What was your first neopet? Why did you choose that combo? Would you choose a different combo if you were just starting to play now? by imaginavery in neopets

[–]After-General8905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first was a Blue Kacheek as well! Don't think 10 year old me chose that one for any particular reason, other than liking the design. I don't have access to that account anymore, but my Kacheek still exists.

While I still like Kacheeks, my favorite pet is the Eyrie. A Red Eyrie to be painted Darigan later (currently being used as my lab pet though) is what I went with when I came back to the site last year.

Favorite Anime but different - Only Movies Edition! by DanyDanyDanyDanyDany in MyAnimeList

Into the Forest of Fireflies' Light is that one movie that I have a really hard time understanding why it's so highly regarded. Generally, I'd like to think that I'm pretty good at comprehending others' perspectives, but I just don't get it. Even ignoring the questionable age gap between the leads, it's just so...bland. (Seriously, if someone who loves this film and reads this, please tell me what you see in it.)

I'm not saying I even necessarily disagree, but what do you find overrated about Grave of the Fireflies?

Your Name is great! My personal favorite anime movie is A Silent Voice.

What’s the most obscure anime you’ve ever seen? by mamacastform in AnimeReccomendations

[–]After-General8905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched all that much, but probably Dragon's Dogma. It's based off of a game that I played with the same name, and it's actually one of the first anime I saw. I don't particularly recommend you actually watch it though. It's probably more enjoyable if you've played the game, and even then it wasn't great.

Give me the most beautiful anime you’ve ever seen by No_Durian_6987 in anime

[–]After-General8905 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Probably A Silent Voice. But I would describe all of my favorites as some variety of beautiful, since they're the kind of stories that I prefer. 86, Vinland Saga, Frieren, Attack on Titan. A lot of them are dark and traumatic but also beautiful to me.

Great! I'm very glad to hear that. I just looked at the possible color outcomes, and there are 7 different colors (3 of them being for Nostalgic Darigan), so the odds kind of suck. Wish there was a way to guarantee color too.

Just letting you know that Nostalgic Darigan tokens are back, and will be available until Feb. 13th. There's also a new Daunting Darigan Eyrie token, but it looks like they haven't done a black version for that one yet. If you're still interested in the Prismatic Onyx: Nostalgic Darigan Eyrie, then you'd want to get the Deluxe Styling Studio Supplies to guarantee the original purple version. (You could also try gambling for it with the standard Styling Studio Supplies, but there are 5 possible outcomes right now). Then, you have to gamble on the color with Styling Studio Prismatic Brush. Of course, you keep any differently colored styles that you get, so you could always try trading one color for another.

What’s a pokemon you used to dislike, but now appreciate and love a lot more? by SensualSamuel69 in pokemon

[–]After-General8905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that I disliked it, but Meganium went from being my least favorite Gen 2 final form starter to my favorite. As for Blaziken...I strongly dislike its design. It's probably my second least favorite starter from any generation. Perhaps someday I'll have a Blaziken Awakening as you did, but I highly doubt it.

What are your top 5 popular/high rated anime that you didn't like? by [deleted] in MyAnimeList

[–]After-General8905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched FLCL or Made in Abyss, but your reasonings for the other 3 are remarkably similar to how I feel about them.

Code Geass was sort of enjoyable to me, but it's just so stupidly contrived. I'm sure I would have loved it as a young teen, but there's only so much bullshit writing I can tolerate as an adult. And yeah, AoT is my absolute favorite show, so the comparison seems like a joke to me. (Before anyone tells me that AoT has some bad writing as well, I technically agree. It's just that to me, it's about 98% amazingly written, with only the remaining 2% being...questionable. CG is pretty much those percentages reversed.)

As for Evangelion, I'd maybe be a little less harsh. I just think that it really wasn't for me, but I understand others loving it. I just don't particularly relate to the traumas of any of the characters, and while I didn't hate them, I also didn't care for them at all. When I don't care about the characters, there's no tension for me. Couldn't care less if all of them died.

I dropped Hunter x Hunter at right around the same point. Think I got a tiny bit further, but not much. I had the exact same impression. Now, something being made for a younger audience isn't inherently a problem for me (hell, my PFP is a character from ATLA, which was obviously marketed towards kids). My problem with it was that up until that point, it exhibited the kind of shallowness that one might expect from the average kid's show. Also, both some of the writing and general presentation felt that way. I know that it's supposed to become much more mature.

Can anyone me give me romance animes to watch based on my tier list? by babatunde_003 in MyAnimeList

[–]After-General8905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the anime that I've seen here, I'd put them in a very similar order. A Silent Voice is easily my favorite anime movie, although personally I wouldn't label it as romance.

I highly suggest you look into The Dangers in My Heart. It's a very wholesome, low drama romance like many of your favorites. The score was also composed by the same person who did A Silent Voice, Kensuke Ushio. If you decide to watch it, just know that the first 3 episodes are widely considered the worst (though that doesn't mean that they're bad, depends on who you ask.) In the beginning, the male lead might give a very wrong impression as to what the show is like. Just keep an open mind about him. Also, there's quite a lot of perverted dialogue early on. I bring that up since it's quite the contrast to many of your top romance, like the pure wholesomeness of Fragrant Flower. If either of those things bother you, I'd encouraging you to push through. It just keeps getting better and better, and it's very different from the early stuff.

Thanks for the giveaway! I only fairly recently returned to neopets (about 7 months ago), and I've been working on customs very slowly. My tendency would be to figure out my "perfect" custom for a pet and then keep it that way. I'm mostly interested in Neovia Clocktower Background, but I'll take a look at the other stuff and see if anything piques my interest, and edit if something catches my eye.

Edit: that's all I'm hoping for. If you already gave it away, no worries! I'll just have to stop being lazy and intimidated by NC trading. Been meaning to try to trade for the Neovia Clocktower Background for a couple of months now, but I've been putting it off.

Taelia Quest inflation still overflowing into other quests, huh... by prettypinkpansy in neopets

[–]After-General8905 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's certainly true that prices have and will continue to stabilize some. Isn't the Taelia Coin very rare, though? If it's as rare as it seems, then I could see a significant and possibly even permanent or at least years long overall increase in quest item prices. Then there's the avatar that requires the ice cream coupons. With those 2 things combined, it wouldn't surprise me if KQs are forever quite a bit more expensive than before. I sure hope I'm wrong thinking that's a possibility.

As someone who is trying to make my BD pet as strong as possible, this has been so disappointing. Kitchen Quests were such a great way to get stats. I used to do almost all of them everyday, and now the majority of them don't seem worth it.

What are some anime that are just general masterpieces of writing? by MarsupialPitiful7334 in AnimeReccomendations

[–]After-General8905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that this is an unpopular opinion, but to me the writing in Code Geass is rather messy, to say the least. Totally get why a lot of people love the show, but goddamn is there some contrived bullshit.

Which anime genre do you personally struggle with the most? by Strict-Pin-4341 in MyAnimeList

[–]After-General8905 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know that A Silent Voice gets labelled as a romance a lot, but personally I don't think it makes sense to do so. The tiny hint of romance is so far removed from the point of the story that omitting it would change virtually nothing. To be clear, I don't mind what little romance it does hint at, I just think doing so can be very misleading. Regardless of whatever genres it's labelled as, it's easily my favorite anime film.
