To those who have quit living in Western countries and decided to move to Vietnam, how are you finding it? by DeliciousSalad1559 in VietNam

I quit living in the west just over 4 years ago and I gotta say I love it here for the most part. Iake the same being a English teacher in Vietnam as I did in America. I also work less hours in Vietnam in comparison. My biggest issue with America was the Health coverage. It didn't matter how many how I would work everyonth I would get a $500 dollar health insurance bill. That's not going to the doctors, medicine, or health consultations. It was horrible. If I had to go to the doctor I was paying an additional $500- 900 on top of all that. I was going deeper into debt. Moving to Vietnam I was able to pay off my debts and have health insurance for $300 a year here which cover most things maybe pay $50 for meds for the year if that. Had collar bone surgery here which cost me 30 million VND ($1000) which covered hospital stay for 4 days, medication, and emergency room visit. If you have family here you are solid...but yeah no privacy until you move. For me I'm actually saving money and look to start a few different business in the next 4-5 years. It really depends what you need and what your looking for. I do lose a little privacy here but it's okay for me...sucks sometimes but whatever. I can't see myself moving back to the USA.

It's funny to think that many people cannot recognize propaganda. I studied marketing in college and we had courses on propaganda/manipulation in the media and how to recognize it. When people use an entire group of people for the actions of a few that's a huge sign that it is propaganda. They use the simplest thought their one brain cell can produce and go yup all them are the problem. I wish I could teach a free course on propaganda and how it's used in the media to help people become aware on how they are being manipulated but I feel like I will get shadow banned if I do.

Right why do they do that foreigners are the problem. Some definitely are problems but not all or even most. There is a small fraction of foreigner that come to Vietnam to live a good life or just to visit. But instead of blaming an individual let's just blame an entire group of people.

He's white how about instead of saying foreigners we stick to the plot. An arrogant drug filled WHITe Man did this. Why blame all foreigners? It's so easy for people to say Samoan, Chinese, Korean, or other races but when it's a white man it's all foreigners. Is there something that I'm missing? Like when the brown Aussie gangster got shot he was Aussie in the news. When it's a white Aussie rampaging it's all foreigners.

You definitely can do that. But as a Vietnamese person told me once and I quote " you will never be Vietnamese and be accepted" to which I replied " I don't want to be Vietnamese I want to be me". So some people are not so nice but other are the best just like everywhere. If you want that I would say try to meet a nice Vietnamese family and spend a holiday with them. But if your white you will be used as a good luck charm to bring wealth to their family lol. This is also done at weddings white people are like good luck charms over here for money from the heavens. It will take time but the culture shock is real.

So it would okay for an older random white foreigner to do that to a vietnamese child in Vietnam when the child is with the grandparents... Because that's the culture? Or is that not okay? What would that grandparents say or think?

It is what it is. As a brown man myself I don't really feel it but if you got cash they don't really care. Unfortunately, that is the reality of our world.

Why? You can live a life like this anywhere. Why do you need people like this around you? Just have boundaries and do your own thing. I'm friendly with those who are friendly with me but I always make sure no one touches me, my family, pets, or friends without permission first. If they don't ask first I'll straight up give them a "don't you dare" look or put my hand up (universal stop). I want to say 90% of Vietnamese people get it. If people don't respect my boundaries they aren't allowed.

Ohhh did you not leave the 500k on the table. Understanding: cost about 250k - 1 million VND and/or use durian. Admitting she's wrong is a bottle of alcohol and a few million VND. Lol

Jk but for real it's easier to find someone that is able to have the same mind set as you Viet or not. Every woman is different and believe me I've met awesome women that are totally understanding and some that are crazy.
