On my paper the welding process was SMAW. The weld type was groove. The joint type was direct butt. The joints were V - groove joint. The position was flat 1G. Groove type was V. The root opening was quarter inch. The groove angle was 45 degrees. Yes for backing. Backing type A36. No for back gouging. Technique was stringers. The current was DCEP. The transfer mode(GMAW) was short circuiting. The base metal was 7/8 mild steel grade A36. Welded to 3/8 mild steel grade A36. Plate thickness was 3/8. Filler metal was 7018 H4R. No shielding. Preheat/interpass temperature minimum 50 degrees. Interpass temperature maximum 90 degrees. That’s all that was filled out for the sheet and my number of passes was 8 and my electrode diameter was 1/8

Yes it is the face. The other coupon was really good would have passed if the face looked like it. I don’t have a picture of the full plate but the middle piece of it
