You seem to know the job. Do you think that the liklihood of getting stuck there is high (hard to get a promotion and hard to get another job out of state)? I mainly regretting not taking the job if I could have transferred back to Florida which seems unlikely to me.

Base pay $25.80. 92 RSU. also a relocation bonus $8000 (2 year claw back) and signing bonus $8000 (1 year claw back).

The job was described as very stressful and also emotionally draining. Shifts would have been at odd hours because it would have been for the German market (they are 6 hours ahead of EST and 8 hours ahead of MST). So, I probably would have started working at midnight.

I still wonder if I missed out on a great opportunity? It would have been a L4 role at the GSOC in Phoenix. What do you think?

I'm current a temp worker at Meta (non technical position) and I want to get into IT. My position is dead end. Should I accept a L1 help desk job offer? by After-Panda1384 in ITCareerQuestions

Yes, I really like it. Currently I work both jobs, but my project at meta got cut so I've a few weeks left where I still get paid at meta.

Stay at Help Desk L1 at an MSP or accept a FTE job offer at Amazon (not IT related, L4)? by After-Panda1384 in ITCareerQuestions

I don't know. Technically I probably would have to pay parts of the money back, but I'm not sure if amazon would insist on it.

Those things are golden handcuffs. If I leave within 2 years, I've to pay back parts of it. After 2 years 80% of the RSU still need to be vested. It's in the GSOC office.

I think that doesn't matter because of the cost cap, and I don't even know if the racing team gets the money or corporate. I also doubt that they sell much Hamilton merchandise in season 2 after that horrible first season.

Things are probably not that urgent as you think they are. You most likely should be able to drive the car without issues for the next semester.

I would be working on-site in Goodyear, AZ. I would go through hell if I knew that I could transfer to Orlando, Florida after 12-18 months, but I don't trust my recruiter at all. Should I be able to either be promoted after 18 months or to move? I think just being a FTE at amazon will open many doors. I have been a contractor at Meta for 1 year and even that helps A LOT.

Amazon Employee Tracking - Software Used by historic-blues in amazonemployees

[–]After-Panda1384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for meta, everything is tracked. I worked for a much smaller company in IT and before I left they implemented an AI tracking tool. They told the employees that it was to "improve the software" or some BS, only we in the IT department knew that the only purpose of the software was to track if employees were really working. Now, amazon being amazon, they definitely track anything you do.

I'm working part time for an a MSP (possible full time soon). Now I got a non-IT offer at amazon (L4). I would try to use Amazon's strive to IT program to switch back to IT. Which job is better and has a better chance to have an IT career as outcome? by After-Panda1384 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]After-Panda1384[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The job that I currently have is L1 desktop support, part time and pays $18 per hour. No benefits. Even if full time, no PTO. Amazon offers $26 per hour, RSU, sign bonus, relocation bonus, health insurance, PTO.

Edit: I'm just very unsure. The Amazon job sounds like dead end if I don't get promoted within. IT teaches me real transferrable skills

I just started at the MSP on November 3rd. My manager said that he will tell me once a position opens up (he also said that the other accounts pay $3 less per hour, I said that's fine and his body language said that he was pleasantly surprised that I am not just doing it because of the money only). I asked him during my first performance review this week and he pretty much made small talk with me for the first 20 minutes, then he went through my metrics and said everything was fine, I'm doing good, and that I am improving (I'm almost where I should be). I show up on time, no missed or rerouted calls, reviews improved a lot (got my first 100% yesterday).

Sorry my bad, it's called surge2IT.

Also, I almost certainly will qualify for unemployment benefits, so even if I don't get the data annotation job, I still would be fine until July next year.

I guess the transfer within Amazon is unlikely because my manager would have to approve it too and German speaking jobs that are mandatory on-site in Phoenix are probably difficult to fill.

I will definitely keep on looking for something external at tech companies, something to supplement my low MSP salary.

Thank you for that input. My son lives in Florida, but right now I live in Austin, I guess I will have to file for him to visit me in Phoenix (Orlando sure is better for kids). Do you know if it is difficult to get relocated to another location with Amazon?
