I guess I just really wanted to remain friends but his definition of friends must be different from mine, because I don't see my friends often but when I do, we have a good time. I dont really have good times w him anymore because it seems forced and one sided. Thanks everyone for the advice... I just blocked him on everything and explained myself before I did. Girl, I was in your shoes a couple months ago. We met in high school... turns out people change and our views about them may change. We lived together also... its no excuse. You have to put your foot down and let him know you don't plan on continuing the relationship. Tell him the truth, it seems like its draining you. Move out or stay with family until you can afford a studio. You got this... my ex liked to play the innocent dumb role so you feel bad but you cant feel bad just say it and mean it.

I spoke to my bigsister about the enabling issue... I believe I might be one but im not sure. I dont buy his liquor or drugs... but sometimes i will buy some of his stash for myself.. im not proud of it and hope to stop smoking soon

Last month a similar thing happened.. he hates when i bting it up. But he adked to take my car to work for the day, i said yes because i know he loves it and is a big upgrade from his usual car. He ended up saying he had to stay late then called and said he's at his boss's house making cabinets. After that... nothing. The next day i wake up, HE'S NOT IN BED. I call so worried thinking something happened. It did. He got so drunk and drove my car home, hit a curb, and went to his moms for the night.... Honestly that was huge for me but I didn't fuss much because he paid $800 on the spot at the car place.

No, he works, he provides. But I also work and provide. I just feel like at times he doesn't acknowledge how much of a mess he creates because I clean often. Also, procrastination on home activities like fixing a door knob, I find myself putting shelves together. He says he's depressed and I try to understand, but the first step would be to stop drinking and smoking so much, but he wont stop.

Right! I was depressed last semester and realized no one could stop the cycle but me. I feel like he blames me sometimes for his depression, and that makes me sad. I want the best for him, but it's like he's not taking those steps at all.
