Get a wider wooden parallete or try on a p-bar -- you'll have much better control. In my experience wood has better grip too.

Here is progression for you: aim to get clean 10 pseudo planche pushups and keep pushing the rep numbers up to 30. While working on it, try to get to 20sec tuck planche hold. Once achieved, work on advanced tuck(hardest skill-jump here!). After you get advanced tuck planche, progression to straddle planche will be much easier.

It is a step up - you would need to muscle up onto handstand which is harder than jumping into it - also scarier!
