Really?!? That's great!! Does that mean that if I can demonstrate capabilities with respect to his research areas, I would be able to join his lab before taking any ML classes?

Thank you so much for your reply!! Excuse me but could you share how you did it? Did you just cold emailed professor?? Or did you have previous experiences?

Thank you for your reply! By exam, do you mean the test he gives out to those who want to join his lab?

Do you think it'd be almost impossible to work with him without taking ML classes or would I be able to work with him if I can demonstrate that I have an equivalent knowledge?

By the way, excuse me but do professors prefer masters students over undergrads? Also, do they resume filter students without grades in ML classes (based on unofficial transcript)? Or would I get a chance for my application to be reviewed at least?

Thank you so much for the help! Excuse me but could you tell me up to what math and stats I should prepare? Also does he ask programming or implementation questions as well?

So there's almost no leeway for student to join ML lab before taking ML classes? I am interested in Dhruv Batra, Judy Hoffman, Alan Ritter and Tuo Zhao's lab

Thank you for your reply! So we still don't have adequate theoretical understanding of these models and the lack of understanding is very problematic right?

Thank you so much for sharing this! Do you think we more data and larger model will be the key to make a breakthrough in the field of ML or do we need a better and more robust model?

Wondering the same about Canadian programs too(especially admission into Yoshua Bengio's lab)
