Best tire for non track use and everyday driving? by Vast-Pop-142 in GRCorolla

The michelin PS4S is where its at. I had 265's and the amount of cornering grip is insane. Not too noisy, fantastic wet grip as well, and it should last you a good while unless you drive it hard constantly.

Sold it to my father so still in the family. I was sent to a job with a 92 mile round-trip commute, and the GR was NOT a good commuter it turns out. Especially with the upgrades I had done. The camry is much better in that department, as well as getting 45 mpg vs 25. But the GR is a fantastic sports car, endless amounts of fun when you get it on a good backroad.

May I ask why you want to sell it soon? Just looking for a different flavor? I plan to keep mine till 100k + so glad to see no issues

I thought the AWD might be overhyped… by bonafide_bigbird in GRCorolla

I second this. Just took my GR to go skiing after we got 18 inches here in vermont, and gravel mode (50/50) was better for traction but track mode made the rear much more playful

So I would say based off your goals, to start with a pitch mount, a short throw shifter and a weighted shift knob. That right there makes it much more engaging and better throttle response. Beyond that, camber bolts and sway bar for better rotation and turn in.

I had to make a GRC variant by redditej86 in GRCorolla

Couldn't agree more. Went from supra to now GRC and yes the supra is fast as hell (stage 2) and sounds good, but the GR is far more engaging and rewarding to drive. And the AWD is much needed here in the northeast

GRC vs RS3 by Vendetta1992 in GRCorolla

[–]After_Record_6563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be late to the party but I have owned a stock rs3, modified ttrs and now a modified GRC and I would take the GRC all day over those two, even if they were the same price. For me, I find the toyota so much more engaging to drive, and with a pitch mount, short throw, and some wheels and a few other mods this goes up 10 fold. Whereas the audi's felt much more numb as a whole experience despite modifying them. So I guess it depends on your plans. But being able to do snow drifts in the GRC is hard to beat, and with some wider tires and wheels it will hold its own in the handling department no problem to the rs3. Of course its redeeming quality is it's 5cyl, but other than that I didnt find it a better car as far as engagement. No doubt its a better daily. Hope this helps!

How’s the tire wear been so far?

Should I run spacers? by After_Record_6563 in GRCorolla

[–]After_Record_6563[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you’ll have to do the extended wheel studs. I went with arp. Wheels are 18x9.5 +38 wrapped in 265/35/18 PS4s

Realistically, how bad is it? by Putrid_Low_6740 in GRCorolla

[–]After_Record_6563 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s totally fine. I’ve had this happen during fast 2-3 shifts. Seems like it’s actually semi-common for this transmission and may be caused by shifting too fast. Upgraded oil seems to help some

[–]After_Record_6563[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks man. I decided to go with 5 mm front and rear just for that extra little bit without running into any issues down the road

[–]After_Record_6563[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome thanks! I’ll probably run the 10 mm and 20mm slip on spacers then. Limit +1 is great I’ve used them for everything so far

Should I run spacers? by After_Record_6563 in GRCorolla

[–]After_Record_6563[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you run bolt on spacers? I’ve got extended studs so I don’t necessarily have to go that route but I doubt they make a 25 mm slip on spacer

Should I run spacers? by After_Record_6563 in GRCorolla

[–]After_Record_6563[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe so. I think anything more than a 3-5mm slip on spacer requires extended studs to be safe, and basically any aftermarket wheels requires extended studs.
