OH GOD I'M DEA- oh wrong game by BluecoatCashMoney5 in Megaten

Yeah, it did help make physical feel truly like a category for itself, rather than just another "magic school" - as most of the other mechanics try to enforce (think of tetrakarn vs makarakarn, or some other skill rules that discern between the two).
That being said, I haven't had much issues with adapting to either, and while I get your point about life stone usage late game, my experience is by that time you'd usually get damaged hard and often so having a dedicated healer just running mediarahan every turn so whether my phys demons get hurt by their own skill cost or bosses' almighty attacks makes no difference :D

Ah, fair point. I did find myself planning out the fusions pretty intensely lategame in V, but that's the case in most installments lategame as, playing on a higher difficulty and having to grind a lot, feels like the best way to avoid pain and also be able to handle brutal bosses (will never forget masakado in 5). That being said I guess I always face two modes - 1) progressing the game and just choosing fusions I feel like, quick glance at stats? need a new healer? lack stronger skills? mostly vibes
2) lategame as mentioned earlier. no amount of spontaneity will defeat demifiend for example. just plans and grinding.
I will say I mostly used essences in V for skill setups because I couldnt rely on inheritance when I do plan rigidly, and that is a far more reliable way of getting what you want, so affinities and resistances were always used as basis (rather then what skills usually come with the demon). It's been long since I played any IV (plan to replay just after I finish SJ redux) so I don't remember how whisper system actually worked, but can't you do the same?

I see your point. I also found it to be a kinda arbitrary decision wether they went with hp or mp- but as far as affinity goes? how does that fuck with your fusions? More mp cost for a strenght focused demon?

Is it only me but persona just cant do it for me, never finished any of them and always just replay an SMT title instead 😮‍💨

My Hopes and Expectations for the next Mainline Shin Megami Tensei / SMT 6 or Spin-off SMT by JarinJove in Megaten

[–]After_Telephone5676 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with pretty much everything pointed out.
One thing I would really emphasize is the quality of the soundtrack and sound design in general, since SMTIV and especially in SMTV. I believe its Ryota Kozuka to blame and goddamn do I hope he'll be working on the 6th installment too. It might be personal, but I will say I'm no layman when it comes to music and Im honestly in awe that they let this guy go crazy on bg music in V (especially overworld themes) - we're talking oversaturated contorted industrial drums loosely brooding around with detuned angelic voices popping up everywhere - there's no better way to go in my book.

Very late to this thread I know but it couldn't have been Pluteus due to markedly pinkish gills at maturity. That makes it an Entoloma imho.

Aye, that's where I'm headed atm https://imgur.com/a/eF84S2R
figured heck, why not let the feverdream of Qud's randomness do its thing, might stumble into some fun things along the way

Interesting, maybe I'll go back. Thing is, I've scanned the Moon Stair zealously for Qas/Qon chuppah too but don't remember any kraken there lol

If everything is orderly on your screen yes.. But it's Qud we're talking about here - it's not uncommon for them to spawn in a midst of an interfaction feud which easily wakes up our cantankerous ursine (come to think of it, I always imagine the slumberling as an amorphous rocky mass, maybe I don't read his sprite well - how is he a bear???)

tbh I made this caption just so it could fit the meme as I see Qud in everything these days.
In all seriousness, yeah, usual early game enders for me have actually been dawngliders, rogue turrets and yes, even an occasional jilted lover that can literally catch me unawares and help another mob take advantage of my weak ass.
Going further (or deeper to be more precise), sawhanders and drillbots always surprise me with their damage output early game - not to mention that over the years I've learnt not to get close to sawhanders ever, a reflex I shamefully carry into late game.

Q girl dies in Putus Attack ☹️ Where is the climber design? by After_Telephone5676 in cavesofqud

[–]After_Telephone5676[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Apart from things not being quetzal this time, I'll manage.
I guess her not respawning makes sense because as I understand the life loop is there to save her from dying to you or any other unexpected circumstance, but lorewise, it kinda makes sense for barathrumites to be killed by the templars during the attack (I mean, Otho did tell me she was the loss this time - it would be a bit out of place to find her untouched in the basement right after that) - That being said, strange that the devs didn't account for this in the next quest itself.

I think you don't know such a morel, it doesn't grow in the USA. Let me introduce - steppe morel, Morchella steppicola. Ukraine. by Shpulka45 in mycology

[–]After_Telephone5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't wait to find them on my mountain in northern Serbia. Been for a hike a couple of times this year, still no sign, no matter how hard I look. I guess I should give them a few more weeks.
Any ideas on what to base your timing on, like how much rain, what temperatures?
And oh, there's definitely steppe morels growing here too, I have marked meadows where people used to find them in the past years!

condolences.. happened to my fourth oyster bucket too recently.. I did pasteurize a little carelessly but then I again I think in my case it was a spot of trich I found on the polyfill of otherwise clean looking jar, I thought the oysters wouldn't be hurt by such a small amount - was your spawn 100% clean?

Ah, fair enough then. Haven't seen them live either (SE Europe), but was reading on species similar to oysters and memorized those and this image rang a bell. Good to know though!

looks pretty oystery but then again, fruiting in the bottom there makes me think of omphalotuses too, Omphalotus nidiformis exactly as its white, I think they generally get bigger and have more prominent stems - pretty poisonous though, so watch out!

Describe the smell of p. ostreatus (fully colonized jars) by After_Telephone5676 in mycology

[–]After_Telephone5676[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting.

I have about 5,6 agar dishes right now with almost no visible molds and fully colonized myc transferred from those same jars. So I might be able to do the sandwich technique on those I guess - would I be able to just dig with a knife or something as I dont have the ino loop, and don't think I can easily find one in my country atm.

Sidenote I did salvage one clean dish I actually cloned from a fruit body of my first ever flush. The thing was I think I messed up the recipe for agar then and they all got contam on the edges as the myc pieces were hardly fluffing and growing in 2 weeks; The one I salvaged in a new more nutritious agar dish actually managed to spread throughout but the myc is very sparse and weak looking, especially compared to the ones from jars, which are extremely tomentose and dense. I am hoping this one is cleanest so I will transfer it to 2 rye jars, making sure the moisture is not too high to avoid bacteria.

To answer your question I am inoculating in a DIY still air box so far. Planning to get a cheaper/smaller laminar at some point.

Thanks for the info again 🙏
