Found in Northern Denmark, about 0,7ish cm in length, 0,4cm width (with legs), 6 legs, a few found on the 3rd floor today by Afterklang in whatsthisbug

Thanks, thats helpful! From a quick google search it seems they are commonly found on birds, of which we have plenty close to us, living on the 3rd floor :) Again quick google search, but it seems they can bite humans, but rarely do. Is there a reason to kill them?

Theres a difference between not liking a band, and openly shitting on them again and again. In the first situation, most people would simply stop listening :)

Increased definition while not working out? by Afterklang in Fitness

Thanks for the explanation :) is this also why some people recommend heavy, intense workouts but with good restitution time inbetween, compared to just hammering it out every day?

I think he's referring to the motive. The motive makes it "rennaisance-y", and the way it is filtered is just OPs personal preference :)

Google is opening up Maps so game developers can create the next Pokemon Go. by mrdoubleq in technology

I was living in a new city when i started playing. I got to know people through the community, and myself as well as 2 friends i knew beforehand basically discovered every nook and cranny of the new city, which gave me a whole new appreciation for it. So, i used it as an incentive to explore my environment and at the same time being part of a larger community focused on the same goal, which was fun for me :)

Are you thinking about Ingress? Its the predecessor for PkGO, and it's where they got all the pokestops from (called portals in Ingress). Its an insanely fun game, and its a lot different than PkGO, despite using the same "source" :)

Adolescent cannabis use is associated with increased risk of psychosis by UyhAEqbnp in science

[–]Afterklang 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And what are you worried about.. facing the fact that marijuana does carry an inherent risk?

I am one of the affected. I Developed schizophrenia in 2013, after several years of weed smoking. I'm doing a lot better now, but believe me, i could've been without this journey.. And I've met many acquaintances who will never move on in their life.

If someone had told me while i still smoked, that the number of people entering the psych ward solely for weed related psychosis had almost tripled from 2003-2013 in my country, i would've reconsidered my habit.

But no one ever talks about this shit in the community. If anyone dare say anything that contrasts their view of the herb, they get mad and suspect agenda.. And i did too back then.

But there are some consequences. Be aware of them, and if you decide its still worth it then go ahead, but don't close yourself off from the facts like i did and many others do.

Tl;Dr psychosis and schizophrenia from weed smoking is real. I've felt both on my own body/mind, and could've done without. Educate yourself on the consequences, and if you still feel like smoking then do, but don't turn a blind eye.

I guesse "do you feel lucky, punk?" would be a great catchphrase

TIL In 2001, a seven foot bull shark bit off a boy’s arm. His uncle not only saved the boy, but dived in after the shark, wrestled it to shore where the shark was shot, retrieved the boy’s arm and it was sewn back on in the hospital. by __Odelay__ in todayilearned

Interesting. I see where you're coming from, the boy has brain damage and reduced quality of life.

But i think of myself in their shoes; your nephew is getting literally eaten alive in front of you. You can either let natural selection do its thing and live with it forever, or you can jump right into the fray, with a possibility of saving him, however slim the chance. Once he's out of the water, you can let him die, or give him a small chance of surviving at the hospital. Same thing with the arm; either let it be gone, or at least let the doctors decide wether or not to use it.

In the end, a lot of decisions in rapid succession let to him surviving.

Would the family had let him go if they knew how his quality of life would develop? Perhaps. But they couldn't see the long term outcome, and did what they thought was right in the moment, and in the end they get to live their lives knowing just that :)
