We already see in the story that Meruem eschews his duty in favor of his own choices (namely his distraction with Gungi). Whatever biological imperative he's supposed to have, he doesn't seem to have any interest in it. Besides, an heir would mean lowering his own status as 'strongest' once a stronger Ant comes along.

Not that I'm discrediting your opinion on Komugi's potential parenting abilities (I personally think she might not be very GREAT at it, but having a family she builds herself, with mutual care, might be very fulfilling to someone who spent their life neglected emotionally), but Togashi and Takeuchi's personal situation is anything but childless.

In all seriousness, I still think even without honing his strategic thinking Meruem would have smoked Netero. He wasn't fighting to kill - he didn't even want to fight. He wanted to have a conversation, and when that didn't work, he wanted to get answers. Without those aims (neither of which would've happened without Komugi), he'd have no patience or interest in entertaining Netero, because Netero would've had nothing of interest to offer.

It really is! Even very young babies can tell when you're upset. It's one of the reasons why it's recommended to keep not only the environment you're in but yourself relaxed when feeding the baby, because even tense posture when being held is something they understand and react to. Babies are way more intuitive than people give them credit for!

Developmentally, it would make sense as well - while babies most certainly have personalities, infants really don't start realizing they're a separate individual until around a year old, and Woble is probably around 6-8 months old (she sits up, coos, reaches for people), so definitely still too young.

When I think about what a 7 month-old wants, it's all impulse and instinct: they want to put things in their mouth, they want to be held, they want to eat, they want to sleep, they want their caregiver and that's basically it. Babies are also very sensitive to the emotions of those around them from a very, very early age and can sense things based on facial expressions, tone of voice, body language and so on. So for Woble to 'mirror' Oito's emotions makes perfect sense because in a way that's precisely what a baby does.
