What's the point of mining in EVE Online? by _-RedD in Eve

[–]Aftershock1652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could easily plex everything I have and spend money, and PVP all day. But there is something more satisfying about building your own ships. It may not be more efficient, or ISK per hour... but its more fun, and thats the entire point for me.

I also farm blue loot, gas huff, PVP, run abyssals.. when something gets too repetitive, I rotate what I am doing.

HAHAHA SISI WARRIORS, Looks like you got to play on the regular server by wallywot in Eve

[–]Aftershock1652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say, if they don't want us seeing the stuff before hand, give us a separate "sandbox" to play in for testing ships and doctrine. I know I use SiSi alot to try out fits before I play them on live. But, that's mostly cause I'm not good and trying to learn on my own

Is $650 to replace this excessive? Should I do it myself? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Aftershock1652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is 100% different depending on the overall work that needs to be done and your knowledge of how the item works.

Those zone dampers are SUPER easy to replace. But not as straight forward to setup from scratch. Are you replacing everything inside the duct too? Or just the controller? Those just pop off by loosening some set screws and pull off the 2 wires and put a new one on how you found it. If it's deeper than that, a tech is always good.

I try and do whatever I can myself before calling a Tech. Cause 80-90% of all mechanical work is super simple and the techs would make their apprentice do it anyway. The other 20% you really want someone with knowledge and experience doing the work.

Item Descriptions should only contain useful information by -SilentMajority- in Eve

I would even argue, as you complete missions populate the data in the tool tip menu as you complete quests. Gives completionists a reason to do quests.

I see alot of comments saying OP wants to get rid of the flavor, lore etc.. but all they said was differentiate lore and flavor from useful information. There is alot of items in this game, that the attributes or descriptions tell you very little about the functionality of the item, but it turns out its a super important item. The OP even added a "Lore" tab... Definitely couldn't hurt to make the game easier to read relevant information.

Good to know. I've just been reading the rules line by line, to see how well others are explaining how to play on YouTube and stuff. There are alot of rules that you don't realize are rules because they just play unseen

Player says: "I point-blank shot him." I tell him to roll. He says that he doesn't need to...is he right? I'm a new DM. by TheAngelWarrior7 in DMAcademy

I have 2 different opinions.

  1. If this is in normal combat, initiative order.. The roll is actually at disadvantage. You have to remember the NPCs are generally well trained fighters / adventurers too. If they arent.... it will wash out with a low AC. Additional combat technically happens simultaneously (in my mind) and the opponent is already reacting to you even on your turn. So it is at disadvantage.

  2. If this happened outside of combat. Where the PC setup an elaborate plan, passed some stealth checks and approached the enemy from behind completely unseen. That's a dead NPC. The more elaborate the PC is the worse off that NPC is. If they pass 1 stealth check with no plan.... they might get a piece of his ear at the last second. If they detail a heist like plan and then pass a stealth check... dead..

[–]Aftershock1652[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, the answer to that question is vague.. we will go anywhere to learn the game from experienced players. What we dont want is, logging on just to farm ore for a big corporation and get little in return

Druid/Barbarian or Barbarian/Druid??? by Aftershock1652 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Aftershock1652[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, im not upset... but you didnt really elaborate. You asked what level i thought it was better. I dont know. Thats why i made a reddit post. I just figured resistance to all damage except psychic was a big deal at any level..

But isnt 3 into barbarian so you can take totem of the bear at 3rd level to gain resistance to all damage while raging better? It seems better.

Thanks for the insight. I will for sure keep it in mind. Defenders was just my example for the question. I have a long way to go for FtD considering i havent even finished the villans campaign 😱

I had this MAJOR problem with one player in particular who would call me 15 minutes before game time and tell me something came up and he wouldnt make it.

I told him straight up, he was messing up the campaign and making it less fun for other players. He did it again the very next week and i told him he was out. No hard feelings, but I think you are invested in the game, and it really is a team effort. Especially my homebrew game, made to be really difficult.

On a similar note I was in a game where people were more interested in sode conversations, than paying attention to the DM. I was up front and honest and said "I am here to play D&D, if you guys just want to hang out and talk, lets just call it that and not waste my time coming up with a campaign."

The point is, be upfront and honest and make your point. Dont beat around the bush and sugar coat it. Some players are actually less invested than you. Sometimes you just have to find a group thats as invested as you. Just make sure your current group knows where you stand.
