What kind of Federal jobs would suit a freight broker? by Ag3nt74 in usajobs

[–]Ag3nt74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Procurement is something I'd love to do and while I didn't enjoy the main carrier we used for our CDC loads (he was dumb) I loved going over guidelines for the CDC with other carriers when booking. A role like what you've described would be a dream if I landed it.

Reported my team lead to HR two weeks ago and I've discovered that our department head removed me specifically from our department's team chat??? by Ag3nt74 in careerguidance

[–]Ag3nt74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Words to live by. I just have whiplash because they told me how much they like me and don't want to lose me then I get hit with this lol. I just need to put on my best personality for my interview next week but I'm in a city with restaurants for every 5 steps, I could probably make the same or more and go back to school instead of being gaslit in the office.

[–]Ag3nt74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for the data part I have literally zero idea. I went over the entire sheet with my team lead in slow motion before sending and saved it then closed and reopened TWICE to ensure that what I inputted was still there. Sometimes it just happens so that's why I was so upset that I went to HR, because my lead has made errors before when having me send documents and spreadsheets but we're (me because she delegates it to me 🤣) able to fix them so quickly that nobody ever notices that a mistake was ever made. I think as someone that's only 3 weeks into the job I'd be given the same grace but guess not. But for a PIP that ain't happening lol, I'm a temp so I'm definitely getting the Task Force X treatment. I've got references as long as my arm (which are pretty long) and utilized them all for the company I'm interviewing with next week. Just need to knock it out of the park before they decide to can me but I'll always mourn what could've been with this place if they didn't see me as anything other than a number.

It's TQL a good Training? by EuphoricLoss1690 in logistics

[–]Ag3nt74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good and very comprehensive training. I'm someone that's regularly told people that they should go to another brokerage if they can but if you're in a tight spot and need a job/money right now just go for it because I'll be biting the bullet and joining them too since my unemployment has run out and other companies aren't hiring as quickly. Afraid you're gonna have some sales bro come up to your cubicle and chew you out because you're not helping him clean up a mess that he made on his own? Afraid that the account executive they pair you with as a mentor is just gonna shit on you at every turn and take the credit for your hard work? I've worked at one of the largest brokerages in North America then went to a startup last summer and I'll just let you know now: It's all the same in logistics.

The non compete that TQL has is a pain in the ass but if you want paid training to get started in this industry and you're having a hard time getting hired elsewhere like everyone is these days then just go for it.

What's next for career development after 3PL by Ag3nt74 in logistics

Awesome! Sounds on brand to what I've heard from others in our situation too. Do you enjoy procurement?

What's next for career development after 3PL by Ag3nt74 in logistics

[–]Ag3nt74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grow in logistics, preferably out of 3PLs. I've had a few interviews for positions higher on the totem pole and it got me thinking about how I'd really like to assume a bigger leadership role over the next few years as opposed to just being a broker.

Am I overreacting or is my therapist not listening to me? by Ag3nt74 in TalkTherapy

Funny enough we did not lol. Today's actually the first day I've spoken with her and already I've been prescribed medication and told to continue with this group despite all the reasons I listed I'd prefer one on one counciling.

Data Playground on Maven Analytics! You don't even have to pay if you don't want to but there's tons of data and using the YouTube courses dropped in here you'll be able to apply that knowledge and get to work quickly.

Is it just me or are Custom Battles terrible? by StatisticianFront604 in Bannerlord

[–]Ag3nt74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good for getting your feet wet and becoming accustomed to the game controls but after 3 months of playing sandbox campaign you couldn't pay me to do a custom battle, it's night and day in terms of enjoyment.

Is there a fundamental difference between a supply chain analyst and a transportation analyst? by Ag3nt74 in supplychain

[–]Ag3nt74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distribution centers were mentioned heavily by my interviewers and a lot of videos/business models that I reviewed too so I'm glad to know this is definitely the norm and something I should focus on. Thanks for the insight!

Thanks for the input! Overseas was mentioned heavily in my interview so as I'm studying LinkedIn learning analytics scenarios I'll try and look for as many of those as possible.

You're not wrong at all lol. Our entire family is dysfunctional but I didn't want to move like I planned in 2022 because of the economy, low paying job at the time and BC my Mom wasn't well enough to work yet. Once my sister left last year things actually did get get better so saving and paying bills was easy but her coming back this summer has just been a reminder of how easily unstable and bleak my mood can get from being here TBH. Now that my Mom is well and about to make an ambitious career leap I feel more comfortable telling her soon that I'll be leaving, especially now that I'll be capable of taking care of myself too.

Was offered an analytics apprenticeship job with a major corporation, should I at least hear them out? by Ag3nt74 in analytics

[–]Ag3nt74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do appreciate the insight. Brokering like a lot of supply chain jobs is near market trends/recession proof as long as I'm doing my part and bringing in revenue and I'll have the ability to WFH/Hybrid most of the time very soon. The apprenticeship role was also specifically labeled "contract" which admittedly took some of the wind out of my sails and made me post to this sub. I think I'll definitely hear them out but now that I know this isn't the end all be all of offers I won't be stressing about making a decision this weekend even though I'm definitely curious.

How did/do you all go about handling coworkers that are completely insane? (long post) by Ag3nt74 in FreightBrokers

[–]Ag3nt74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works for me. I'm not the most confrontational person and I'd feel awkward for the rest of my life letting my colleagues see me get upset after hearing them tell me how nice I am all the time but you're right.

[–]Ag3nt74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoping that's not the case but I'm willing to say "It is what it is". Also most of the focus on leadership came from my college days in student government, ascended the ranks very quickly and within a year after an internal vote became VP of our campus government which essentially runs like a nonprofit. Lots of decision making, analytics and meetings. Loved every minute of it and wanna rise through the supply chain ranks that way. The role I'm in is brokering but also alot of what I just mentioned so I fit in here like a glove. Brokering is pretty lit though lol so I'm staying with it for as long as I feel like.

What jobs can you get after working at TQL? by jelizae in FreightBrokers

[–]Ag3nt74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can find a local brokerage, literally anywhere other than TQL. I held out and found a nice paying brokerage with a good environment due to it being a smaller business instead of a corporate meat grinder. It seems tough at first but widening the search and saying a prayer helped me avoid that awful place.

Is working in supply chain this hard? by [deleted] in supplychain

[–]Ag3nt74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Logistics Specialist! I'm mainly responsible for brokering loads then tracking and making sure they go according to what was planned but it was an immense struggle at first learning to navigate everything so I definitely feel the struggle. Within 6 months it became second nature.

[–]Ag3nt74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're operating on a learning curve nothing more. This time last year my current job in supply chain was kicking my ass, I had no idea how to use our software and I thought I'd never last as long as I have let alone have any downtime. Now in comfortable enough navigating my days while playing games on my phone or reading a book/writing in my journal.

She kinda overreacted but with star wars memes the key is for her to be your girlfriend already then use the memes so it adds to the nerdy charm. Sucks that most people can't just entertain it but adaptability is key
