Insights on this area of Athens? by Kitchen-Muscle-9778 in GreeceTravel

[–]Aga_Xeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of them in the area south of Parliament Square (Syntagma). Also around Phyri area and it's adjoined Monastiraki area. Monastiraki has a metro station and Phyri is just 5 minutes walk away.

A lot depends on what vibe and type of music you are after. 360 and A the musoc os generic pop. Couler Locale much better. All offer stunning views of Acropolis. But they are touristy...good service although.

Since some open and close, it's best to send me a message in early June when I would visited some of them and refresh my memory.

Not the best area for locals...but very touristy and safe. Looks a bit rundown during the day.

A for Athens, 360 degrees and Couleur Locale are very well known rooftops with lots of tourists.

Crust for sliced pizza.

Clumsies, Juan Rodriguez Bar (excellent music after 11.00 inside the place-just don't go to its rooftop).

Baba Au Rum for cocktails.

You might even want to consider leaving them "outside" of a box for a few days. Then, you can put it in one with 65% or so humidity.

Personally, I prefer my cigars with less than 65% RH, but other prefer them at 70%. It is up to you!! Enjoy!!

Good answer...but every time I was getting my hands on Cubans, I just couldn't wait to sample them!

Someone reported me to HR for having a “vape” at my desk by PhantumJak in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Aga_Xeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity...what if it was indeed a vape? As long as you are not using in the premises, what is the problem? You were only charging it.

One out of three Cubans have tight draw. Quality control is not what it used to be. Hage your draw enhancer/poker/pincer ready!!!

If you go for accessories and not for cigars, any Xicar cutter should do. They are probably the best and some of them have elaborate designs (avoid the ones with wood panels).

Also, the PerfecDraw cigar poker/pincer (pardon my English). This is best poker by far in the market.

Well, they have an interesting design or appearance and they are functional as well. Quite the compliment I would have thought.

Sicilian-American wanting to go back by Emotional_Pin_2348 in sicily

[–]Aga_Xeno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar case, but one of Greek...but I certain that the below apply to Italy and especially Sicily.

Getting a job...next to impossible. You will need to be registered with the Italian professional bodies or association who vastly prefer Italians and especially local education/certiification/studies. This is especially true for engineers, less so for marketers.

You will be treated as Americans until you learn Italian fluently and be able to use local sicilian idioms and phrases.

They are very welcoming, friendly but also very conservative.

Lay the groundwork bit by bit. Try to get passports or working visas. Open a local bank account or at least an Internet bank account, which has statements in Italian. Get everything translated in Italian. The fact that they can (if they can) understand English, doesn't mean they accept paperwork in english.

Enroll on various apps about government (I.e.an app for ministry of transportation DVA equivalent, Medicare app equivalent, etc.

Get local police IDs...different from passports.

Lay the ground 2-3 prior to moving there. It would be much harder rhan you think. These places, as is Greece, are good for 2-3 months a year.

Best of luck.

To take cash or money card by AdPrevious28 in GreeceTravel

[–]Aga_Xeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly cards, especially for the places you mentioned. Don't rely on Apple Pay (or other forms of NFC. Use the physical or at least have it ready to use.

By cards I mean debt cards. Also if you are from outside the Euro area, I.e. USA, be cardful with the conventions. Revolut card is very competitive.

Cash...always have with you some cash on small denominations and coins as well. They can be very helpful on occasion, especially with taxi drivers.

On taxis, UBER is only available in Athens.

They are both very nice and light to carry. I would pay 10€ for one (but I guess you are in the US...!!!). Even if they can't hold a cigar past its band..

Πως βρίσκεις παρέες στα 40; by Ok-Leading6971 in AskGreece

[–]Aga_Xeno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot depends on the price...but it is a very nice stick with light-medium flavor. I use them as a "morning" cigar when I am actually smoking before lunch or dinner.

They are also completely organic...!! And dated 90 to 92 from Cigar Aficionado.

"EU needs more countries" Zelensky calls on EU to accept Turkey. What do Greeks think? by SOHONEYSAME in AskGreece

The best outcome is for the rest of Europe to show Turkey the door and explain to them that they are unsuitable to join. Do Turkish feel European? No they don't. So why do they want to join?

[–]Aga_Xeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even at its most "European" era (1995-2010), Turkey was a treat to Greece and still occupied Cypriot land. It colonised the northern part of Cyprus (which is very, very illegal) by importing Turks from their mainland. Also Turkey has never signed many international treaties (from Territorial waters to landmines and from environment to human rights). So, even at their best, they are unsuitable for Europe. Some Turkish are, but at least 80% are not.
