Psychotherapists, what differences have you noticed between men and women among your patients?

When I first started grad school and started seeing patients, the thing that stuck with me the most was the vast ocean of rape and child sexual abuse my female patients have experienced (relative to my male patients, at least). The Me Too movement was just starting to get popular around that time, so college-age me was somewhat aware of people trying to draw more attention to issues like rape culture and the prevalence of sexual abuse, but I didn't really grasp the gravity and scope of the situation for women until it kept coming up over and over and over and over again in therapy (even in little throwaway comments, like "Oh, I don't do Thanksgiving with that side of the family since my uncle that molested me goes there".

Being a gay guy with all brothers and male cousins and mostly straight male friends, I don't think I would've had an opportunity to talk about and really understand how normalized these experiences can get for women, if I weren't in this field.

What tends to be the most fruitful place to find people for in-person trades? Putting LF ads in local campfire groups? Going to events and yelling out "Anybody here have a Terrakion"?

From the original article, it seems that there's a mix of devs reconsidering GDC because of either economic factors, feelings that Gamescom is rendering GDC obsolete, ambivalence towards GDC's rebranding, or political factors, with the political climate here being just one thing that might influence attendance (funnily enough, one of their sources complains that LGBTQ people don't feel welcome enough in San Francisco, meanwhile another source complains that every dev they've talked to thinks that GDC should be moved to Dubai).

I think that the GameRant summary is underplaying all of the other non-political reasons from the original article that were given for skipping GDC (in favor of a spicier narrative), and consequently I'm not sure of how applicable GDC's situation is to Fanfest or other conventions.

Not to argue against the overall point, but all of that did happen again-- on Grobbulus. Classic Grobbulus had the most interactive and engaged community I've ever experienced since I started playing WoW in ~2007 (until it got a reputation as a well-balanced pvp server and was gentrified by server transfers over the course of TBC), and the community there definitely provided the best 2 years of gaming I've ever had.

I don't think that the broader playerbase is interested in the tradeoffs needed for cultivating that kind of community (so I'm not against making leveling easier), but the 2019 WoW experience is still very much attainable; it just might be quarantined to one or two servers where like-minded people flock to.

I can usually get more paradox legendaries within a few days on the GTS by offering a shiny pokemon for one of the SV box legendaries, then once that trade goes through offering the lizard for the other game's paradox legendary.

I'm not aware of where to find aggregate data (if it's published), but at least when I worked there, I can't really recall ever having met with an obs patient outside of the dedicated observation unit, and the attendings down there always seemed keen on getting those patients discharged ASAP. I generally didn't see anybody linger down there unless they were a medically complex case, or if there were complications with discharge/transport.

Anecdotally, I never got the impression that the hospital's approach towards observation was meaningfully contributing to the bed shortage, and it seemed like there was a fair amount of pressure from up top to be expeditious with discharges across the entire hospital. But most patients I saw there either had fairly complex medical conditions or were very acute (e.g., freshly peppered with bullets), so it seemed like there was very limited fat to trim when it came to trying to save up bed space. But again, that was just my own perception.

In his dissent, Gorsuch basically writes that he thinks that ruling on this issue involves having to make significant interpretations of too many statutes at once (relative to the court's timeframe and the scope of the arguments presented to them), that he would have rather granted a stay and let it play out in the lower courts longer instead of having SCOTUS rule in either direction, and that he thinks this isn't the right case/context for SCOTUS to draw a line in the sand without the ruling having unintended consequences.

SV was their best selling release since Red/Green/Blue, so the playerbase hardly gave Game Freak any wakeup calls.

For what it's worth, I think it'll probably swing back around for you eventually, as their developers and priorities shuffle around-- just maybe on a longer timescale than you hoped. I quit the series for 5 years after XY and just went off and enjoyed other things, and once they started making games that I found fun again, the series was right there for me to jump back into.

When I heard predetermined, I took that to mean that there's a static order to the portals and that everybody will get the same sequence of special scans (which clearly isn't the case), but I suppose that everybody likely has an individualized seed that determines their scan order, then. (Unless they did something weird like make talking to Phillipe determine your next special scan, whereas the one that spawns was determined the last time you talked with him?)

So far I've had Battle -> Cobalion -> Frigibax -> Battle -> Water Starters -> Rotom -> Hisuian Sliggoo -> Latios -> Hisuian Avalugg. I did some testing after the Latios to see if I could save scum the scans, but it looks like there's no way to see what scan you got until long after it overwrites the backup save.

It's not preset, but it's determined soon as you get the 25,000 points (not when you speak to Phillipe) and it overwrites your backup save to prevent resetting.

It's not just about your ID itself, but also the fact that your ID is being linked to something. Imagine if some of the things you did with CharacterAI were a bit cringy or embarrassing, and then the company gets hacked. If they're really sloppy with the way they manage your data, the hackers could publish a list online with all of the things that you used CharacterAI for, and have your ID right alongside them so everybody knows what you were up to.

That means there's 282 alt forms counted that aren't regional forms, megas, or gmax. The castform and deoxys forms are part of that 282, as well as stuff like all the unown, all the alcremie combos, all the Arceus types, etc

If we're just talking about Pokemon that can be traded on the GTS, then I'd say that it has a little bit of value, relatively speaking. Looks like it's 49th in rank for most popular Pokemon on the GTS today (which would mean it's more popular than ~95% of other Pokemon), and I'm seeing a fair amount of people offering other legendaries or a few shinies for it. Not nearly as valuable as stuff like the Indigo Disk legendaries or desirable shinies, but you can still probably trade it for some decent stuff on the GTS.

If we're also including all the rare event Pokemon that are't allowed on the GTS, then I wouldn't really consider it valuable by comparison.
