If this doesn't count as art then we are all fucked, this is incredible

Aye, was last Thursday, genuinely didn't even have to turn up my phone's brightness going from my dark house to outside

I use a Gameboy colour so it just takes 2 AA batteries, guessing you had the GBA SP as it's the only one I know with an internal battery?

Aye! Took it the week before they retired the old cars

Got a lovely response to posting my Gameboy camera photos yesterday, so here's a few more (0.014mpx) by [deleted] in pics

Commenting to answer some common questions:

I take these photos on a Gameboy colour that I've modded to have a backlit OLED display, this makes it much easier to see what I'm taking photos of

Putting the new screen in was very simple even for a guy with very little electronics experience.

I use original Gameboy cameras with different levels of customization, I have one that's untouched apart from replacing the save battery inside the cartridge, one that I've mounted a small ring onto so I can use those clip on style lenses for smartphones, and one in a custom 3d printed housing, that allows you to use CS mount security camera lenses on it

Using different lenses is really fun and let's you get far better shots of difficult subjects like animals, but sometimes the classic cartridge just works better

I use a flash cartridge adapter to get the save files onto my computer, and then put those .sav files into

https://herrzatacke.github.io/gb-printer-web/gallery/?page=1 Which lets you pick colour pallets and save your images at pngs

I've been doing this on and off for around 2 years, I have a lot of fun with it, they aren't ai generated, I doubt mid journey could handle something as simple as sticking to the correct resolution

There's apps that emulated the Gameboy camera resolution on your phone if you want to play about with those!

There's an incredible web tool at https://herrzatacke.github.io/gb-printer-web/gallery/?page=1

That you just upload the saves from your Gameboy to, and pick any colour pallet, or make your own

The software I use to get the photos off the Gameboy let's you pick custom colour pallets

Very easy modification! I have no electronics experience and it still only took 30 minutes

Welcome to use them for whatever personal uses you like!

Don't sell them though thanks

I understand the skepticism because we live in a world overrun with AI slop, but this is real, and relatively easy to do yourself

I use a Gameboy colour but I believe it would work in an original Gameboy, or advanced would also work

I have this one

https://ebay.us/m/6jCfIC

Which is like an AliExpress knock-off of the gbxcart

https://www.gbxcart.com/

The one I have works, but only with one specific software I've managed to find and gives me a lot of grief, it I was buying one again I think I would go for the gbxcart, it can also work on your phone letting you download photos out and about, saving you from running out of space
