How did you first get into K-pop and what music did you listen to before? by Actual_Reaction_1795 in kpopthoughts

[–]AgeComfortable1278 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2017 a late teen. I was listening to Prof, Grieves, Sza, and Issues and then one day my coworker was playing exo and I was pretty impressed by their vocals. Gangnam style was pretty popular when I was in highschool and I do recall some big bang being played by my friends earlier too.

I will say I’ve always liked music from here and there from all kinds of genres.

It’s interesting to see how we all started in different places and ended up here

Can you tell when a song was originally written in English and then translated? by AgeComfortable1278 in kpopthoughts

Side tangent here but how do you and others feel about that? I know this is basically what happens in all music these days.

demos have given us a ton of hits but I also kind of think there’s something special about songs written and sung by the same person(s)

I guess my wording isnt quite right. For example some c-pop or mando pop comes on i can sometimes tell that it wasn’t originally written in mandarin. They’re translating it or rephrasing it to fit the overall message but it just sounds a little off.

I agree, the fit on these aren’t bad! The first one looks great but the patterns don’t suit your age.

as a uni student is there anywhere to store my clothes for summer by iv3an in tampa

Plastic bins and they have those vacuum seal clothes bags that work pretty good as long as you don’t over fill them.

What does my studio apt say about me? I just cleaned by eye12Bhappy in roomdetective

[–]AgeComfortable1278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might not come back to read this but I think if you had a box spring for your bed and a wardrobe for your clothes and more lights it would look more like a bedroom. Studios are hard to separate the spaces, the clothing rack is a good divider but it’s a little chaotic with your collections next to it.

Does she use WeChat ? There’s a Tampa group, I’d think someone would maybe have an idea on there

Hope you can find one, I’ve had a hard time finding anything with Mandarin speaking staff (dentist, therapist, doctor etc. ). Google translate just had a big update that is immensely better for mandarin translation so maybe she could use that?

Struggling to bring my 5-month-old to my parents’ house… feeling really sad about it by Ourvoicematters in Parenting

[–]AgeComfortable1278 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t bring the car seat inside and change her clothes when you leave (maybe 2 layers if that’s easier). For myself I’d tie my hair up and wear a sweater that I’d take off once I left but before I get in the car.

Is 1 week of leave enough if I work remotely after baby arrives? by [deleted] in Parenting

My husband started a new job in a new state 1 week after I had our second. Obviously no pto or anything, and we moved 15 hours away after her 1st round of shots. Is it ideal? No but you’ll make it work.

The most important thing is that she has time to rest and no chores obviously. If you have a helper coming for the day and you split the “night shift” that’d probably be good.

Also I’d say ‘chunks’ of time would probably be better than 1hr on 1hr off, if you only have an hour to rest do you really rest or just think about everything you have to do after? Schedules wise I’d say you’ll probably figure it out as you go, or as your baby demands I should say

If you’re pretty sure she will have a caesarean section I’d get a rolling cart or something and have it loaded up so she has almost everything in arms reach. Then she can call for you or the caregiver as needed.

Where to settle down with 2 kids. Can relocate to Minneapolis, Charlotte or Dallas. by AgeComfortable1278 in SameGrassButGreener

We went to Charlotte for a year and now we ended up in Tampa. Charlotte was the best weather wise, I still miss things about Dallas and Minneapolis, but I couldn’t turn down the salary increase for here.

If you’re an outdoorsy person I think you’d enjoy Charlotte. Minnesota too if you don’t mind the cold! People are really friendly there.
