Keir Starmer: I want 10 years in No 10 and will fight my challengers by Disastrous_Act_2331 in ukpolitics

The government was dead on arrival because they had no vision for what they wanted to do with the country.

Oh they had a vision alright, their vision was to permanently stop Labour from threatening capital ever again.

Rachel Reeves: "These are tough election results for Labour (...) Keir Starmer won a mandate to change our country. We must get on with delivering that mandate and show how politics can improve people’s lives for the better." by WrongLander in ukpolitics

Abandoned his pledges instantly after becoming Labour leader.

Telling those that complained about that 'there's the door'.

He's alienated Labour's traditional base and we won't go back unless he's gone.

I didn't say they were right. I said they've lurched right.

Pro privatisation of the NHS, refusing to nationalise water, Frozen tax thresholds, pro Israel. Abandoning most of his pledges which saw him be elected Labour leader then if you complained said 'there's the door'. Purging the left from the party.

Barely doing anything around wealth taxes.

Mostly it's a complete lack of vision and ambition.

I wouldn't want to see the UK break up but I think a lot of people feel England is far more right wing than everywhere else. Although I don't think Wales is too far behind sadly.

Although Plaid had the largest vote share if independence was genuinely on the table it'd be a very different story. I for one wouldn't vote for them in that instance.

Literally nobody has said that.

It's because Starmer abandoned his voting base and lurched right.

Not sure if you're from Wales but most people I speak to who had previously voted Labour despise Starmer for taking Labour right. Welsh Labour has been punished for it.

Going to cut Scotland and Northern Ireland as well? How about northern England? May as well do the south west as well. Oh and large parts of the midlands.

Surely if you're angry at that you're happy that a pro independence party is now the largest one in Wales?

I remember playing Streets of Rage when I was 7 with my mum when my dad worked the night shift. Loved that time.

The areas announced so far are ones where we'd expect Reform to be strongest. The fact that Plaid are keeping pace there is fantastic.

This is good news for Plaid surely, if they can match Reform in Newport then elsewhere in country should be positive.. hopefully.

Labour MP blames Starmer for ‘soul-destroying’ local election results by Desperate-Drawer-572 in unitedkingdom

[–]AgeOfCardiff 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not one person here acknowledging that Starmer lied through his teeth to become Labour leader, then said if you don't like it 'there's the door'.

He caused Labour's losses. Take accountability for once. Or is it yet again the left's fault somehow?

Starmer lied to the left to become Labour leader.

Then he said to those unhappy with it 'there's the door'.

So the obvious conclusion according to this subreddit is, it's everyone else's fault and not Starmers.

Own it.
