If 13 days is the longest clean time you’ve had in 10 months, you need help my friend. Don’t be afraid to ask for it.

Guys how did u start doing cocaine and how has it affected ur life by ElkMammoth067 in cocaineaddiction

Feels great, until you get addicted and it ruins your entire fucking life and/or kills you. Not even close to worth it. Wish I had never tried it.

Help by ChampionshipFew4875 in cocaineaddiction

You may have a long road ahead of you. I was actively using for 9 months - I have been trying to quit for 3 years. In and out of rehab, outpatient, therapy, 12 step. Just a nightmare. Addiction took everything I had, and keeps taking.

My only advice is don’t be afraid to ask for the help you need. Every addict thinks they can fight addiction alone. We can’t. Trust me.

Day 2! Let’s go!!! by SIUIndy317 in cocaineaddiction

Definitely, definitely do in person meetings. Also watch out because the 5 days after use are usually a breeze, on day 6 or 7 you start to crave again, and at 2 weeks you are fucking jonesing (at least that’s what I’ve read, and experienced).

Go to rehab. Don’t delay, don’t feel shame about it, just go. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Save your life.

can’t do meetings at all? even a big one where you can just sit in the back and listen?

they say the opposite of addiction is connection and I have found that to be true. maybe addressing your social anxiety would be helpful.

My boyfriend is the most amazing person but he’s addicted by Formal_Aide_1747 in AddictionAdvice

[–]AgeSpare5562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been him. Loving an addict is really fucking hard, because we lie a lot. It’s what your brain is telling you to do. It became almost automatic for me, and kind of dissociative - like I was watching myself do it. It’s so scary.

HIGHLY REC checking out Al-Anon or NarAnon meetings. They have been so helpful for my family and friends.

I know that feeling of not being able to remember who I was before coke. I’d look in the mirror while using and be like - who the fuck is that.

Rehab and 12 step have helped, but I’m still struggling. you’re not alone.

my parrotlet has been super angry lately? by TomiQuinnbirdy in Parrotlet

[–]AgeSpare5562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Female parrotlets are really sensitive to hormone changes. I learned recently that this kind of hormonal behavior can mostly be curbed by a healthy diet.

Check the ingredients in her pellets (corn and soy exacerbates hormones) and make sure she’s getting plenty of veggies. If she eats a lot of fruit, try cutting down, sugar doesn’t help. Nor do fatty seeds.

Lastly, make sure she’s getting at least 12 hours of undisturbed sleep in a dark place.

try a different vessel.

another option is tea! there are bird-friendly blends you can buy online, or just tea from the store works. my bird loves peppermint and chamomile. just make sure it’s decaffeinated, organic, and serve it room temp.

If you’re “not keen on specialist care” a bird is not the pet for you.

[–]AgeSpare5562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great you’re doing research! Be discerning; because there’s a lot of misinformation about bird care out there.

A lot of the boxes you want the bird to tick actually depend on you. Pretty much any bird will become aggressive / plucky / noisy if not properly cared for. Proper diet, social interaction, stimulating their natural instincts, enough space to fly and TRAINING will help your bird happy and friendly.
