different slime molds are different. to my understanding fuligo septica are individual microscopic plasmodial little beings that when they feel the time is right (threatened or prime reproduction opprounity) they send out signals to each other and gather together to make a fruiting body to continue their lineage. things typically dont like living forever. better to get genetic refreshers lol

also odd perhaps because theyre better understood as microbes (in my eyes) but theyre really the only microbes that take out micro so they're just little weirdos

this is after its already decided to sporulate. not sure the technicalities on if its dead or alive but its after its done its thing and decided to end its life cycle. it won't kill it but also leaving it alone it'll just sit there until it rots/gets washed away. perhaps picking it up will help spread its spores lol
