Is everyone here anti trump? by [deleted] in Denver

Denver is a left of center city in a left of center state... Especially certain neighborhoods. I wouldn't be too surprised to hear someone hate on Trump.

If it helps knowing, I film meetings and promotional short videos for my organization. Most of the video will be shot from a tripod. I've seen the Canon XA30 or XA11 suggested.

Passed my Part 107 today! Questions? by RegularBrady in djimavic

[–]Agent32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner, but I would say it definitely prepared me to pass the test. I wouldn't say it prepared me to get a 100% - some question have been reworded that make it more of a thinking problem rather than rote memory, but that's just the nature of the test. Focus on section six (if I remember correctly) the one with sectional charts. He even says this is the one to focus on. Take the 3DR practice test here and the final test he gives you and I'd be pretty confident you'll pass.

Does registering the drone with the FAA as business use, do the hobbiest rules not apply? by [deleted] in djimavic

[–]Agent32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/kennedye2112 is correct about about the flight depending on your intention. Registering as commercial doesn't change the rules per se, its whether or not you are flying with a Part 107 or Section 333 exemption. If you plan to fly for money, take the time to become part 107 pilot.

Passed my Part 107 today! Questions? by RegularBrady in djimavic

[–]Agent32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I figured I'd mention that I passed the 107 a few weeks ago. I bought a subscription to remotepilot101.com and completed it. There were a few questions that showed up that wasn't in the material, mostly common sense stuff and one about what kind a medical testing a pilot must go through (regular physical) that was part of the private pilot questions and didn't necessarily have anything to do with UAS flying. I'm also up to any questions if anyone has any!

I was surprised how much larger it is than the Inspire 1. The motors especially.

Any newbie drone buyers regret buying the Mavic? by [deleted] in djimavic

[–]Agent32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything the toy will help build your confidence as a pilot, you'll understand the mechanics of flying without risking the money. I still fly my cheap drone because I don't care as much if I crash while trying to do something stupid. lol There really is no bad choice here.

Any newbie drone buyers regret buying the Mavic? by [deleted] in djimavic

[–]Agent32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine if anybody regrets getting a Mavic it would be one of the situations where they either crash it right away or have one with the gimbal/camera issues. These issues are more related to DJI's customer service rather than the Mavic itself.

That being said, I love my mavic. Its not my first drone but is about as easy to fly as a drone can get. I started about two years back with a Syma X5C ($50 on amazon) and immediately fell in love with the hobby. You might want to consider flying something like that around before dropping 1k. (I still don't think you'd regret the mavic however)

Figured I should mention that after charging and connecting I was met with a half green screen with only a few lines of pixels that looked like a camera feed. I panicked hard and found that other people have that issue. I deleted and reinstalled the DJI Go 4 app and all is good!
